Security Officer

Location: Orlando, FL

Salary: $46,000 Annually

Start Date: April 29, 2024

Framily Support Network is committed to transforming homelessness from a persistent challenge into a temporary setback. Based in Orlando, our mission encompasses providing comprehensive support to those in immediate need, extending our services across Florida with the aim of empowering individuals and families toward stability and self-sufficiency. Our organization is built upon the principles of compassion, dignity, and community collaboration, focusing on developing sustainable solutions that address homelessness effectively.

Position Overview:

The Security Officer plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff. This position demands a professional with a strong emphasis on de-escalation techniques and the ability to handle potentially volatile situations calmly and effectively. Previous experience in mental health settings and a valid security license are essential for this role. Reporting directly to the Administrative Assistant, the Security Officer will be instrumental in maintaining the peace and security of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules, ensuring the safety of clients and staff.
  • Employ de-escalation techniques to manage and resolve conflicts or disturbances while maintaining a calm and secure environment.
  • Conduct regular security checks and patrols of the facility to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Maintain detailed logs of security incidents and responses for review and action.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
  • Provide support and assistance in emergency situations, prioritizing the well-being of clients and staff.
  • Enforce facility policies and procedures to ensure compliance and safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in security services, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Class D Security license and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a security role, with prior experience in mental health settings highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use de-escalation techniques effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and compassionately with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet any other licensing or certification requirements.
