Position PurposeThe Office of Innovation Coordinator assists the Office of Innovation in overseeing, organizing, planning, implementing, and monitoring the operation of all components, goals, and functions of the Office of Innovation. Supports several intertwining strands of work that together will provide access to more high-quality seats for the students of FWISD by creating new schools and improving existing options. This position supports the implementation of the System of Great Schools and supports the design, execution and evaluation of programmatic goals of the Office of Innovation. These workstreams involved are:

  • Year-to-Year enrollment analysis to derive recruitment strategies and to support effective implementation
  • Internal, comparative enrollment analyses to support District strategic planning initiatives
  • Evaluation and support of SB-1882 Partnership Schools
  • Support implementation of School Performance Framework and processes
  • Master Schedule/Staffing Analysis

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Articulates the Office of Innovation’s strategies and objectives to internal and external stakeholders to solicit its support in realizing the mission for internal and/or external audiences.
  • Demonstrates awareness of school-community needs based on needs assessments and initiates activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Supports the Office of Innovation, and the implementation team, to ensure joint planning, joint resource development, and optimal levels of efficiency and coherence in service delivery through maximum coordination and integration of services.
  • Provides guidance, resources, and organizational structure to ensure success of the Office of Innovation initiatives.
  • Assists with the coordination of budget operations and various Texas Education Agency (TEA) Grants.
  • Innovative, problem-solving oriented thinker who supports and engages in continuous improvement initiatives to benefit FWISD
  • Serves as the point of contact in the absence of the Director and Executive Directors.

Project Management

  • Develops comprehensive project plans to be shared with the Director as well as other staff members.
  • Manages multi-year, multi-phased projects.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates parent and community outreach activities and programs that support improved student learning and academic achievement.
  • Collaborates with service providers, the District and department partners to ensure coordinated, seamless programming for students and families at the identified schools.
  • Schedules and forecasts planning for special events that publicize the organization and its programs to the community.
  • Coordinates joint planning among identified schools, agencies, funders, service providers, and other partners jointly responsible for programs in related service delivery systems.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Assists with the successful analysis and submission of data.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the campus improvement plans for the Innovation campuses.
  • Communicates with supervisors on a regular basis concerning key issues and current projects.
  • Assists Division leadership with Special Projects and other program development functions.

Monitoring and Compliance

  • Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals.
  • Meets budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Prepares status reports by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information.
  • Facilitates change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on the schedule and budget.
  • Conducts post-project evaluation and identifies successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Monitors progress toward program goals and gathers other significant data relevant to the success of initiatives or programs, when applicable.
  • Meets regularly with the Division of Innovation leadership team and campus leadership staff to analyze and interpret data and to coordinate campus activities.
  • Monitors the development and implementation of effective and efficient assessment systems, and data collection processes, that provide a record of baseline measures and tracks longitudinal trends.
  • Monitors federal and state requirements and regulations pertaining to instructional programs, and professional development.

Professional Learning Community

  • Facilitates and attends professional development and specified training to enhance skills, instructional strategies, and program management.
  • Provides regular updates of program activities and services to appropriate audiences.
  • Collaborates with district departments to coordinate and implement programs that support the special needs of all student populations.
  • Acquires professional knowledge and learns of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

  • Knowledge of grant funding compliance and accounting principles to understand and communicate how decisions affect the project bottom line.
  • Skill using various multimedia programs for formal presentations and reports.
  • Skill in program planning, development, analysis and evaluation.
  • Skill in judgment and decision making; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Skill in working with initiatives that require collaboration with district and outside agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate projects, work and training related to the implementation and supervision of the Innovation campuses.
  • Ability to manage and contribute to the marketing of the Innovation Campuses through social media and public appearances.
  • Ability to design, organize, and track work plans, create appropriate working and decision- making processes, ensure stakeholders are engaged, and supporting the work itself.
  • Ability to create a comprehensive short- and long-term strategy for the District’s portfolio management, school improvement, talent development, and new school’s functions.
  • Ability to create solutions for the product and process by adapting to feedback and other constraints, such as limited data, community, voice, phasing, and so forth.
  • Ability to navigate the process as an unbiased facilitator though the organization to gain buy-in from multiple stakeholders, from the Board to schools.
  • Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms to a wide audience.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree from accredited college or university in education, business, or a related field preferred
  • Certification/License: Preferred: Valid Texas teaching certificate, Project Management Certificate, Data Analytics Certificate; or related degree or credential.
  • Experience: Preffered 4 years’ experience required in project management/analysis role or school leadership role; Preferred – Experience working with or in a public school setting; experience with analytical tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Google Data Studio, R, Stata, SPSS, and/or ArcGIS
