Food Procurement Manager

Food Bank of Central New York is seeking a Food Procurement Manager to oversee food acquisition processes, with a focus on food donations from industry sources. 

Goal:

Support Food Bank of Central New York’s mission by managing the acquisition of 7 million pounds of donated goods annually.

Process:

Enact donor campaign intended to increase acquired food donations by 10% annually through 2025

· Create and implement strategy for donor acquisition with new donors

o Varied strategies for Donor Class of Trade

o Varied strategies for Product Categories

· Create and implement strategy for increasing viable donations from existing donors

o Donor communication plan

o Donor visit schedule

o Results monitoring/reporting

· Provide summary reports of results

Support Retail Partnership Program with Donor Relations

· Donor communication plan

· Donor visit schedule

· Results monitoring/reporting

Create and maintain systems and processes for acquisition of donated goods through Feeding America Supply Chain platforms

· Provide timely summary of available products and status of acquisition (Acquired, Rejected, Attempted)

· Provide summary report of product acquisition and platform usage

Coordinate with Operations staff to ensure donated food options are viable for distribution to the network. 

Maintain up to date records of Donors in CERES

Update donation policy annually to reflect goals and objectives

Requirements

- Minimum of 10 years’ food industry experience, preferably in food sales or food procurement.

- Have the ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and external stakeholders with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and communication styles.

- Will represent the Food Bank in a professional manner under a variety of conditions.

- Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain, food systems, brokering, retailing, wholesaling and tertiary markets.

- Demonstrated success in relationship building and management.

- Highly organized with ability to successfully multi-task and meet deadlines.

- Effective communications skills, able to speak publicly and give presentations
