First Service is Hiring a Litigation Legal Assistant Near Sarasota, FL

Attorney/ Legal Assistant.

This is a Temporary to permanent position.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread and revise drafts of legal documents
  • Provide general office support for attorneys, for example, maintain and organize files (paper and electronic), prepare reports, coordinate meetings.
  • Answer calls in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Liaison with clients and vendors on costs, quotes, and other related inquiries.
  • Manage office calendars, including client meetings and calendar court dates.
  • Monitor certain firm email accounts.
  • Conduct research.
  • Assist in filing pleadings.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments.
  • Perform asset and skip searches.
  • Assist in training.
  • Assist attorney client oversight and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting attorneys.
  • Ability to understand and interpret legal documents.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines for multiple clients while supporting numerous attorneys.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Excellent writing skills, including knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including phone calls and inner-office conversations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.
  • Must pass a drug and background check.

Preferences

  • At least 1 year of experience in collections, customer service, sales, or telemarketing.
  • At least 1 year of experience in legal assistance.
  • Basic understanding of various debt collection laws such as the FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPPA.
  • Paralegal Certificate or associate degree or work towards an associate degree.
  • Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
  • The highest standards of honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and ethics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
