First Community Credit Union is Hiring a Business Development Specialist Near Beloit, WI

GENERAL SUMMARY

Primary Responsibilities:

This position assists the VP of Lending in the development and implementation of a strategic, multi-faceted business development program designed to promote, retain and increase the Credit Union’s membership and visibility in the communities that we serve. This position will also help grow the commercial loan department by acting as a commercial loan originator. 

Primary Qualifications: Passionate and enthusiastic; world class service and leadership skills. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and develop new business relationships through outside calling, networking functions and community events. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current commercial and deposit products and keep up to date on all relevant industry trends and practices. 
  2. Develop opportunities to promote, retain and grow credit union membership, deposits and loans.
  3. Represent the credit union at local events and networking functions to help increase brand visibility.
  4. Work with the Commercial Loan Department to increase commercial client base through consistent sales call efforts. Support sales efforts on new or prospective members with presentations, pricing analysis, pro-forma generation, pre-call preparation, relationship reviews and analysis of account structures.
  5. Actively call on new commercial and business prospects to identify new business or referral opportunities. Attend client visits independently and with sales representative to identify service needs.
  6. Develop and execute sales presentations for members and prospects including cost benefit analysis; service and fee comparisons, written proposals and determine best relationship pricing model.
  7. Plan, implement, and evaluate product and service sales to members and prospects, coordinate with other areas of the Credit Union as needed.
  8. Ensure proper account documentation and all requisite agreements are executed timely to ensure member’s expectations are met while adhering to Credit Union policies and procedures.
  9. Cross sell all Credit Union products and services; refer members and prospects to the appropriate department; monitor and ensure appropriate follow up.
  10. Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes.
  11. Install products and services on schedule and provide on-going training on relevant products.
  12. Quickly identify any issues requiring attention, take a leadership role in providing direction or personally offer corrective action and follow up to ensure member satisfaction.
  13. Coordinate service support for resolution of member problems/complaints with depository or treasury management services; communicate resolutions to members.
  14. Provide management with weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as directed.
  15. Accountable for ensuring adherence to established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and instructions. Report suspicious transactions or unusual occurrences to supervisor. Maintain member confidence and protect credit union operations by keeping information private and confidential.
  16. Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in daily tasks
  17. Research and stay abreast of industry trends and demographics. 
  18. Maintain current knowledge of Credit Union philosophy, all Credit Unions services, and policies.
  19. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university preferred or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience

2 or more years of business development or sales experience.

Financial institution experience is preferred, but not required.

Experience managing appropriate risk and making sound decisions.

Successful candidates must have strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated attention to detail. 

Ability to effectively respond to member needs and willing to solicit feedback to improve service.

Physical Demands

Communicate with members, advisors and managers regarding banking transactions and issues. Able to exchange accurate information with others. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public. 

Able to verify authenticity of financial instruments, forms, documents and signatures. Able to verify identity of members, vendors and service providers. Operate a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer and telephone.

Regularly move about the office to access file cabinets, storage drawers and various office equipment. 

Able to study, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 

Regularly travel to other locations, such as, member’s office or other branch locations to meet with members. Some overnight travel may be required.

Able to frequently work from a seated position. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Able to grasp, move and sort forms and papers. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weigh approximately 20 lbs.
