The Controller is responsible for all functions of the accounting department including, but not limited to, financial reporting, analysis, budgeting/forecasting, internal controls, cash management, and team development. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, self-motivated, able to meet tight deadlines with multiple priorities, demonstrate clear communication skills, and has significant experience leading and managing teams in a construction finance department.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

$104,600.00 to $159,600.00 annually depending on individualized compensation analysis including experience, tenure, skills, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting, perform period end close, maintain general ledger and subledgers.
  • Supervise, support, and coach all accounting staff, including AP Specialists, Staff Accountants, and Payroll Administrator.
  • Oversee all accounting activities ensuring accurate and timely completion of all monthly reconciliations, weekly payroll, cash application, month-end close, annual and quarterly budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and accountants to complete corporate tax returns and all audits (Annual, 401K, Insurance, etc.).
  • Ensure appropriate controls and procedures are in place to maintain General Ledger and financial statement integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and bank regulations/requirements.
  • Provide management reports including profitability, cost analysis, variance analysis, equipment utilization and other ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Assist accounting staff in resolving both internal and external customer inquiries.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects supporting the entire organization.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Significant understanding of GAAP, percent complete accounting, and other elements of construction accounting.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a senior level accounting position.

Preferred:

  • CPA license or other professional designation, experience with Viewpoint, and prior Controller experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time, including uneven terrain on work sites when needed. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, list, carry, push, and/or pull 25 lbs. occasionally for filing and storage access, etc. Ability to maneuver paperwork and use a computer screen for extended durations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily office-based work with varying temperatures and extended screen time.
