FinRegLab (FRL) is seeking an entrepreneurial and relationships-focused Sr. Development Manager who is motivated to help our mission-driven organization execute its fundraising strategy. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the person in this role is a strong communicator who works with the Leadership Team and programmatic staff to deeply understand our programmatic work and short- to long-term organizational strategy, and can translate our fundraising needs into relationship-building activities and proposals for impactful work. This person will facilitate the lifecycle of funding opportunities.
The ideal person has a strong interest in our mission and how technology and data can present enormous potential to bring greater financial inclusion and well-being to the world. They have the ability to support relationship-building with current and potential supporters and can communicate complex ideas in a nuanced way that simplifies the work that we do for this audience of funders, government agencies, and supporters. Communication vehicles can include marketing material such as decks, one-pagers and talking points, as well as more substantive materials such as letters of intent, concept notes, and proposals. This will require a candidate with strong writing skills and the ability to create compelling visuals. In addition, this role will support our external-facing events, as needed.
This position plays an important role in FinRegLab’s overall fundraising strategy. The organization has diversified revenue streams that include foundation and government funding and aspirations to continue to grow and diversify our funding as we embark on our new strategic plan. This role will also provide writing, editing, and project management support of our government contracts and institutional grant reporting.
Manage the organization’s development/fundraising strategy
Work with the Leadership Team to support the design of the organization’s development strategy in line with its financial goals.
Lead the development, improvement and use of fundraising systems and tools
Track new developments in technology and data in financial services and trends in philanthropy
Conduct research and develop briefs on prospective revenue sources and potential opportunities to generate revenue, including through grants, donations, and contract opportunities with foundations, individuals, corporate donors, and federal and state agencies
Create fundraising materials about FRL for use with prospective funders.
Manage cadence and documentation of ongoing communication and engagement among FRL staff and external parties as it relates to development activities, including organizing follow up engagements with potential funders after initial pitch meetings
Write grant proposals and manage a grant portfolio, which includes independently writing, project managing, and submitting grant requests to foundations, companies, and corporate foundations. This includes writing grant applications, free-form proposals, letters of inquiry/interest, and reports.
Project manages applications for grants, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting.
Develop and maintain development calendar
Manage proposal/funding requests and grant reporting functions
Support the stewardship of funders throughout the grant period to build and deepen relationships
Develops, implements, and maintains effective systems and project management for grants management and reporting in conjunction with program staff and coordinate with operations personnel about financial components of the reports

Qualifications
Understanding of and passion for the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
7 years of relevant development/fundraising experience doing grant writing, applying for government grants, relationship-building and portfolio management experience.
Excellent written language and verbal communication skills, including the ability to frame and present FinRegLab’s message and materials in a clear and compelling way and the ability to tailor content, message, and materials in response to the needs of multiple audiences
Experienced in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to balance, prioritize, and manage competing demands and be flexible to support the team's outcomes
Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a larger team.
Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
Basic knowledge and understanding of pipeline management, grant application portals and grant & contract reporting
Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems
Location, Salary and Benefits
This position is based in Washington, D.C. and in line with our work hours and location guidelines for hybrid work, the person will come into the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
Compensation will be commensurate with the overall experience level of successful applicants. Offers will include a competitive benefits package.
