Company
Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
We are a community-engaged bank, and we are committed to understanding and serving the vibrant, diverse people of the Twelfth District. That means we seek and appreciate new perspectives. We respect people for what they do and for who they are. We build opportunities to learn and grow.
Bring your passion and expertise, and we'll provide the opportunities that will challenge you and propel your growth-along with a wide range of benefits and perks that support your health, wealth, and life.
We empower our people to balance their life and work responsibilities. That's why we offer a flexible hybrid work model that allows you to collaborate with office colleagues on some days, and work from home on others.
Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) delivers a suite of payments services to financial institutions via FedLine Solutions, Fedwire , National Settlement Service (NSS), FedCash , FedACH (Automated Clearing House), Check Services, and the FedNow Service. In 2020, we undertook a strategic effort to transform FRFS from a product and support office framework to a national, enterprise-focused organization. The enterprise structure integrated the prior retail, wholesale, cash, and customer relations product and support offices into a new organization, which was further joined by the FedNow team in early 2024. Our North Star strategy, with the new structure, is to offer a fully integrated product suite that provides speed, resilience, and choice in meeting the payments needs of financial institutions across the United States. Through our evolved structure, we will meet the needs of the marketplace for new products and services more quickly, seek to provide a more robust and unified customer experience across our financial service offerings, and create new career growth opportunities for FRFS staff.
We are seeking leaders to set the vision, strategy, values, and priorities that enable FRFS to achieve its mission. Our leaders must demonstrate a strategic, action-oriented mindset focused on intellectual curiosity, agility, accountability, and the ability to drive innovation through experimentation. To achieve our vision for a people-focused organization with a strong collaborative and innovative culture, we expect our leaders to champion an inclusive environment and demonstrate our values in how we work and interact with each other and our broader community.
The FedCash Services group within FRFS is seeking a Business Analyst to join the FedCash Business Solutions & Support team. This position will support a variety of projects and tasks that may include operations support, national coin and currency inventory management, market intelligence, and business resiliency for the Federal Reserve System.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform net payment forecasting, inventory levels tracking, scheduling and coordinating currency and coin shipments, and collaborating with Board of Governors and U.S. Mint stakeholders.
  • Collect, model, analyze, and interpret sophisticated and/or broad data; identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Prepare and present a variety of operational analyses and recommendations to senior management for decision-making. Examples include status reports, dashboards, and development of ad-hoc business models.
  • Perform day-to-day project management and administration tasks in support of department-led projects and initiatives in a collective, team-based environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relations with Reserve Bank peers, management, and industry team members to meet short-, mid-, and long-term national objectives.
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization and industry stakeholders on decision and strategic options that may have operational, policy, or financial impacts to the business area.
  • Develop, implement, and steer analytical and operational projects with or without formal direction from leaders and find opportunities for further refinement of existing processes and initiate analysis in support of ash operations and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Intermediate level experience with Excel SQL, and Tableau.
  • Basic familiarity with SAS or other statistical reporting software, Microsoft Visual Basic for applications, and Python or R is preferred.
  • An understanding of coin and currency processing is preferred.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with an ability to address problems in non-traditional ways.
  • The ability to be respectful personable, and effective in written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and consensus-building skills; ability to work independently and lead members of a team in an environment with diverse sets of team members.
  • The ability to formulate a plan of analysis designed to arrive at a solution to a problem or otherwise illustrate how data describes a scenario and a likely outcome.
  • Able to communicate the results of analyses concisely and clearly, draft white papers summarizing results, and create effective visualizations and presentations.
Base Salary Range: Min: $97,600 Mid: $126,800 Max: $155,900 (Location: San Francisco)
Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform crucial job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
District Employment and Dual Citizenship:
As a Federal Reserve System National Business Line, it is standard practice to post FRFS positions in all twelve Districts to provide transparency and equitable opportunities for all FRS employees to apply. Internal candidate(s) selected for this position will remain employed by their current employing District and serve as an employee of FRFS. The selected candidate's new job title and associated pay range will be determined by the employing District and will continue to be subject to the employing District's people policies and practices (i.e., remote/hybrid work posture, etc.).
We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.

About Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 Reserve Banks that together with the Board of Governors in Washington DC, comprise the Federal Reserve System. As the US central bank, the Fed formulates and implements monetary policy, provides payment services to commercial banks and the US government, and supervises banking institutions. Led by president and CEO Loretta J. Mester, the Cleveland Fed operates from its headquarters in downtown Cleveland and from two branches in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. It employs some 950 people and serves the Fourth Federal Reserve District, which comprises... Ohio, western Pennsylvania, the northern panhandle of West Virginia, and eastern Kentucky. The Cleveland Fed began operating in 1914 in a temporary location, and opened its current headquarters in 1923. Dr. Mester assumed the helm of the organization in June 2014. Contrary to common misperception, the Cleveland Feds employees are not government employees. The Federal Reserve is an independent entity within government. It is not owned by anyone and is not a private, profit-making institution. More
