Job Overview

The role bridges the gap between IT and hospital business service lines, enhancing operational efficiency and workflows through application configuration support. This position involves independent and collaborative tasks, including software design, implementation, and troubleshooting. The incumbent will lead and support major enterprise applications, ensure system security, and develop end-user training materials.

### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. **Application Support**

- Support major enterprise applications and other assigned software.

- Maintain system security for assigned applications.

- Independently manage application upgrades, testing, and support efforts.

2. **Workflow and Business Process Improvement**

- Facilitate the design of business workflows to improve efficiencies and incorporate quality initiatives.

- Participate in workflow and business process discussions.

- Design business workflows in collaboration with business units.

3. **Needs Assessment and Implementation**

- Perform needs assessment, software design, implementation, and support.

- Coordinate and participate in unit and integrated testing activities.

- Identify testing scenarios and develop test scripts.

- Assist in the development of policies and procedures.

4. **Problem Resolution and Support**

- Identify and analyze moderately complex issues, resolving them effectively.

- Lead the escalation of issues with internal resources.

- Support/troubleshoot inbound/outbound interfaces.

- Work problem tickets and create reports as needed.

5. **Training and Documentation**

- Develop end-user training materials and participate in training efforts.

- Assist in ensuring high documentation standards.

- Create and maintain appropriate system documentation.

6. **Collaboration and Project Management**

- Collaborate with other application and clinical analysts for system integrations.

- Participate in change management activities to support system deployments and enhancements.

- Utilize and maintain appropriate change control procedures.

- Provide direction to junior team members.

7. **Data and Reporting**

- Collect data from business subject matter experts to design improved workflows.

- Create reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support the customer base.

### Experience & Knowledge

- **Required:**

- Minimum 3 years of IT experience supporting applications.

- Detail-oriented, organized, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent client service, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in PCs, Microsoft Office suite, and general office equipment.

- Knowledge of SQL databases, LAN, DNS, and networking.

- Experience with servers, software upgrades, disaster recovery, and backup procedures.

- **Preferred:**

- Project management experience.

- Experience in a healthcare setting.

- Business workflow redesign experience.

- Experience with applications such as:

- Inpatient systems

- Hospital patient flow systems

- Data Warehousing

- SQL Server/SSIS

- Enterprise Scanning and workflow management Applications

- Bed Management Applications

- Finance Applications

### Education

- **Required:** High School diploma or GED.

- **Preferred:** Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

### Credentials

- **Preferred:** Epic Certification

### Compliance

- Must handle Protected Health Information (PHI) appropriately, abiding by all relevant policies and procedures, and complete annual training on the UH Code of Conduct and PHI management.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that business workflows are optimized and aligned with the hospital's operational goals.
