Family Services is Hiring a Mental Health Specialist Near Salem, NC

Summary:
The Licensed Clinician advocates for and provides professional human service programs designed to strengthen the social-emotional development and well-being of children, families and staff in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Works in collaboration with other clinical staff to effectively deliver quality services in compliance with internal and external standards and requirements. Provides programmatic services and child/family-centered consultation. Meets all applicable HS/EHS program performance standards and requirements *Full-Time or Part-Time (10 or 12 month) position*.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provides consultation and coaching within classroom setting as agency implements evidenced-based programming to strengthen the social/emotional/behavioral and mental health concerns of children
  • Facilitates referral and/or provides therapeutic intervention for children and families
  • Delivers services by coaching, interviewing, diagnosing, developing, and implementing service plans, documenting and evaluating the service provided
  • Facilitates prevention activities that address social/emotional development
  • Establishes supportive relationships with assigned classroom teams and administrative and support staff
  • Assures quality service by being knowledgeable of and enforcing rules, regulations, legal requirements, and maintains records necessary for programming and accountability
  • Maintains professional competency by participating in continued education and personal growth experiences
  • Promotes a positive image of FSI by ensuring an understanding of program services available, publicizing activities and accomplishments, and conducting oneself according to a professional code of ethics
  • Maintains a harmonious working relationship with sponsoring and advisory groups and other related service agencies by amenable and cooperative contacts
  • Contributes to the effectiveness of the profession by maintaining active interest in the field, consulting and advocating for change
  • Executes responsibilities as part of agency-wide team
  • Participates in agency meetings to include staff meetings, committee assignments, and record audits
  • As assigned, accepts responsibility for intern development and supervision and/or clinical back-up
  • Acts in such a way as to encourage and maintain high morale among staff members
  • Other duties as required
Position Qualifications:
Required
  • Master’s Degree in the human service field (social work, counseling, and/or marriage and family counseling) from an accredited school
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-Master’s clinical experience with children and families
  • Licensed or provisionally licensed clinician with North Carolina Certification/License/Registration in field of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience as therapist/consultant with parents and children ages 0 -5 with mastery of knowledge and skills in addressing social-emotional development
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources
  • Meet federal and state background check and drug screen requirements
Preferred:
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Full-Time or Part-Time
  • 10 or 12 month position

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Open, participatory, and flexible regarding new, proven trends in delivery of services
  • Understanding and acceptance of regional psycho-social, cultural, religious and economic differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas clearly (both written and orally), listen accurately, and establish personal rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain dignity and self-control in stressful situations; objective about personal strengths and limitations
  • Proven logical, systematic, integrative, conceptualizing thought process
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet Agency needs
