Family Medical Practice is Hiring a Medical Receptionist/Medical Records Near Denver, CO

Busy Family Practice clinic is looking for the right fit to join our team. This is a full time permanent position.

Summary

Schedules patients for doctors visit and checks patients in and out at the time of the visit by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Treat patients with respect and sensitivity and exhibits behavior, which project a caring and compassionate attitude.
  • Answers phone calls and direct them to the appropriate person, answers questions and take messages. Prioritizes emergency calls and forwards them to the appropriate personnel immediately. Schedules patient visits with their physician and enters date and time into computerized scheduler.
  • Takes messages from patients or other physicians, retrieves patient’s chart and forwards to an MA or Provider for handling. Forwards messages requesting medication refills along with the patient’s chart to the MA for handling.
  • Enters general patient information and insurance information into the system.
  • Greets patient and checks them in for their office visit. Verifies the patient's record and insurance information is up to date and accurate. Copies insurance cards for file and collects co-pay payments. Instructs patient on the information forms that need to be completed and signed. Completes patient chart information and delivers chart to treating provider for their appointment.
  • Checks patient out after visit, and schedules additional visits or tests if applicable.
  • Makes reminder calls for appointments scheduled the following day and contacts patients who do not arrive for their scheduled appointment and reschedule as necessary.
  • Assists MA’s, providers, or other personnel as requested to maintain an efficient facility.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma required. Prefer at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires good communication skills and good telephone skills and a friendly, pleasant manner. A professional appearance and excellent telephone etiquette is essential.
  • Must be willing and able to work as part of a team. Team environment requires a patient and helpful demeanor to assist in the flow of the office and in helping patients in feeling welcome, comfortable and relaxed.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks as well as switch tasks is required.
  • Must have a high level of energy with the ability to adjust to any justifiable pace. Exhibit behavior, which emphasizes compassion, quality, loyalty and conscientiousness. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families and staff members. Ability to work as part of a team and on an individual basis.
