job purpose: The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for planning and managing shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to warehouses and customers. This role will be a key member of our supply chain team, involved with daily operations as well as strategic initiatives looking to optimize our network and processes. This role will collaborate with key internal partners and carriers, building strong relationships that support customer and organizational needs.

responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning, tendering and tracking all shipments outbound from our Goodyear plant, ensuring on time pickup and delivery
• Act as a key liaison between production sites, carriers and customer service to communicate any changes impacting shipments and deliveries
• Utilize data, analytics and market information to make informed decisions
• Develop carrier relationships to effectively support our organization and customers, utilizing metrics to drive carrier performance
• Identify and drive process and system improvements aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness
• Analyze key performance indicators, implementing corrective actions balancing cost and service
• Responsible for data entry and maintenance in Excel and our Transportation Management System
• Collaborate with Customer Service in the management of finished goods inventory levels
• Support Freight Audit team on invoice reconciliation
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager

skills/qualifications required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field experience
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting a must
• Strong planning, scheduling and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience in D365 TMS or another Transportation Management System preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment while delivering individual results

food safety requirements:

• Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.

• Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
• Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
• Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
• Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
• Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
• In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
