Extremity Care is Hiring an Associate Research Scientist Near San Antonio, TX

Purpose:

A Research Associate is responsible for all functions of their assigned research projects. Projects are varied and range from experimentation to implementation of allograft designs, equipment or materials, systems, or resources.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of research projects to ensure timely completion of tasks, and clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Design, create, and execute technical protocols to support research project activities ensuring standards & regulations are met, including but not limited to experiments, verifications, validations, and qualifications.
  • Assists in evaluating lab methods, procedures, and techniques based on established objectives.
  • Performs a variety of tests, using both routine and special techniques and methods.
  • Conduct comprehensive review of peer-reviewed literature to support research projects.
  • Aid in analyzing data using complex statistical computer software.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FDA, AATB, ISO, and other regulatory requirements or guidance as deemed appropriate.
  • Prepares stock solutions, chemical reagents, and commonly used samples.
  • Source and implement necessary equipment or materials to support research project activities.
  • Calibrates and operates laboratory instruments that are necessary to independently perform tests, analyses, and other procedures in conducting experiments and studies.
  • Performs report writing, maintains records of expenditures and tracks chemical and supply inventory.
  • Communicate and negotiate with various vendors for testing, equipment, materials, or other resources to support research project activities.
  • Carry out general laboratory, equipment, and biological material tracking and maintenance of technology department resources.
  • Starting job duties on time, staying on the job throughout the assigned shift to complete duties properly, and attending all scheduled meetings and appointments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Well organized and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 50 lbs.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., biology, bioengineering, biochemistry).
  • At least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in a research setting.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience.
