Trissential is currently seeking a Project Manager with experience in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to join our client's team in Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO (Onsite). 

Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

As a Project Manager specializing in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), you will lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of ADMS projects. This role requires a unique blend of project management expertise and a deep understanding of ADMS technologies and their integration within utility and energy systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical experts to ensure successful implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of ADMS solutions.

This project is a component of the broader Advanced Grid Intelligence & Security (AGIS) Initiative that is being implemented. The Smart Grid PM Consultant adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning:

    • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for ADMS implementations, including scope, timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Execution and Monitoring:

    • Lead cross-functional teams through the execution phase, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
    • Monitor and control project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Possess advanced knowledge of ADMS technologies and their integration with utility and energy systems.
    • Work closely with technical teams to understand and address project-related technical challenges.
  • Resource Management:

    • Allocate resources effectively, including internal and external team members and third-party vendors, to ensure optimal performance and project success.
    • Collaborate with department managers to secure necessary resources and support.
  • Stakeholder Communication:

    • Regularly communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and functionality of ADMS solutions.
    • Conduct thorough testing and validation of ADMS implementations.
  • Documentation:

    • Maintain detailed documentation of project plans, technical specifications, processes, and outcomes.
    • Create and update ADMS documentation for future reference.
  • Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
    • Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in the implementation of Advanced Distribution Management Systems.
    • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, specifically in ADMS projects within the utility or energy sector.
    • Proven track record of successfully coordinating and delivering complex ADMS implementations.

    Experience

    • Minimum 3 years of Utilities and/or Transmission and Distribution Experience.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience of “IT/OT Experience within T&D Organizations: EMS, ADMS, GIS, OMS, NERC CIP, SCADA.
    • Minimum 15 years of project management experience, including 5 years’ experience managing large complex enterprise-level projects and budgets > $10M.
    • SCADA systems experience in other industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Rail, Water Utility.Experience in operational technology and real-time systems.
    • Must be adept at managing stakeholder expectations, scope, requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment using a defined SDLC approach via both internal and external (Vendor) project team resources.
    • Proven experience managing scope definition and requirements development from high-level business needs.
    • Proven experience managing software and hardware implementation projects following a prescribed methodology working within a formal PMO.
    • Proven experience on a project with organizational impact and managing the associated change management.
    • Experience in managing project budget forecasts and actuals with accrual-based accounting.
    • Experience within a formal PMO IT Software delivery environment and have experience delivering large-scale projects from end to end.

    Benefits

    Trissential offers a competitive hourly rate for the Project Manager, ranging between $80 to $85 per hour on a full time (40 hours per week) basis. Full time employees are eligible for a full package of benefits including company sponsored health care, accrued paid time away from work, and 401k with matching.
