Basic Functions

Technician – responsible for all site testing and commissioning and maintenance activities, with a senior level understanding of all testing, commissioning, and maintenance testing activities on a project.

Responsibilities 

• Install, remove, operate, maintain, and diagnose problems for substation, T&D equipment and protection & controls. Voltage levels .480V to 500KV.
• Must be able to read, understand and draw electrical schematics (Single Lines, three-line diagrams and control schemes)
• Inspects, tests, repair and calibrate all substation relaying and equipment including, but not limited to; transformers, circuit switchers, regulators, capacitors feeder circuit breakers, reclosers, motor operators, battery chargers, control equipment, etc. and completes all pertinent paperwork/records.
• Maintenance testing on 480V to 500KV T&D and Substation equipment and protection & controls.
• Cable Testing & Fault Locating
• Perform high voltage switching operations in planned and emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
• Must complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
• Must be available to work regular overtime.
• Must be able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly and fly domestically, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

Education and Experience Requirements 

1. NICET/NETA Level 3 or Level 2 . NICET Certification must be maintained during employment with “EEPS”.
2. A BSET/AS in Electrical Engineering/Technology from an accredited school or University is preferred.
3. This open position requires 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Certificates, licenses, registrations – Texas Journeyman License is a plus
