Staff Accountant will take a significant hands-on role in AlertMedia's accounting month-end close process by preparing, recording, and reconciling daily accounting entries. This position provides exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities and tasks; therefore, it requires a detail-oriented individual with an excellent work ethic and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to change. Reporting to the VP Controller, the Staff Accountant will be directly responsible for processing accounts payable payment procedures, preparing monthly trend and variance analysis explanations, ensuring operating expenses are coded accurately, researching, and resolving accounting issues, and assisting with periodic reporting. This position will be critical in executing our core AP payment processes and procedures, with day-to-day ownership of Avalara, Stripe, JPMC/FISPAN, and Expensify.

You take pride in a pristine level of attention to detail and are aware of the importance of the company's timely and accurate financial accounting operations and reporting. You're a finance/accounting pro, equally as comfortable engaging with customers and internal teammates as you are working on spreadsheets and systems.
What you get to do every day: - Prepare journal entries, maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Support timely financial close, including assigned journal entries
- Collaborate with various departments, including FP&A and Payroll for proper recording of transactions
- Manage accounts payable operations, including coding invoices in NetSuite, processing weekly check runs in JPMC/FISPAN and maintaining employee expense reimbursement program in Expensify
- Reconcile and process corporate credit card statements between Expensify and JPMC
- Prepare monthly flux analysis for various GL accounts for management and balance sheet reconciliations, including bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Maintains fixed assets, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system, and preparation of depreciation schedules for budgeting purposes
- Assist with the monthly reconciliation of sales tax payable and submission of filings, ensuring the accuracy of monthly/quarterly returns via our sales tax platform, Avalara
- Fulfill external audit requests for supporting documentation
What you bring to the role: - BA/BS degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field required
- 2 years' experience in an accounting or financial role (SaaS GL experience a plus)
- Experience working within an accounting software system (NetSuite, Avalara and Expensify experience a plus)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently on regular routine assignments, including managing time and meeting critical deadlines
- Ability to perform work to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems
- Detail minded, careful, high level of integrity and confidentiality
- The desire to learn and be coached
- This is an in office, hybrid position (2-3 days a week) in our downtown Austin, Texas headquarters
