Qualification/Skill Requirements:
· 4-year Architectural, Construction Mgmt. or Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of documented technical training and/or experience.
· Minimum 10 years estimating, project management and/or engineering experience with minimum 5 years total estimating experience.
· Must be a self-starter with the ability to meet critical deadlines and work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team setting.
· Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents (drawings, specifications, details, etc.) and the ability to complete bids and budgets from Conceptual Design to final Construction documents, including all trade disciplines.
· Review RFP and all bid documents to determine scope of work and required contents of an estimate (Lump Sum, GMP, Cost-Plus, etc.). Incorporate historical data into estimate as required.
· Prepare discipline estimates by review and compilation of scopes of work and by calculating complete takeoffs manually or digitally.
· Independently manage and maintain preconstruction process and public and private estimates ranging from large, complex conceptual budgeting to firm-price bids with minimal supervision. Maintain budgets and track changes from inception to completion of a final bid. Design-Build experience is a plus.
· Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
· Solely responsible for the set-up and completion of a bid or budget, including document distribution, subcontractor coverage, receiving/entering/leveling subcontractor quotes, overseeing Estimating Assistant as it pertains to their bid effort. Oversee other team members of different disciplines to support a complete estimating effort.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Knowledge of Quickmeasure, Earthworks, Procore and other Microsoft Office software is preferred.
· Attend pre-bid site visits and pre-bid and post-bid meetings as required to support the estimate. Attend Preconstruction interviews to represent Estimating department in support of proposals and bids.
· Support other department personnel as required that may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
· Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction as it pertains to the role.
· The successful candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills and be competent with the Microsoft Office Suite.
