JOB DESCRIPTION

Our automotive / e-mobility organization centers on accelerating the equitable transition to zero-emission electric, connected, autonomous, and shared vehicles. Our growing organization is looking to add an energetic, experienced Midwest Program Manager to help us change the world for the better.

Our new Midwest Program Manager will lead our state and local programs, pilots and policy work across the Midwestern region of the U.S. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Detroit, Michigan. The person that fills this role will wear multiple hats. The ideal candidate will have formal experience managing staff and programs, thriving in entrepreneurial environments, strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build strong teams. Confidentiality and discretion are also key attributes and are required for this position.

ABOUT EVNOIRE

EVNoire (EVN) is an award-winning consulting group, whose work centers on e-mobility best practices and e-mobility diversity, equity, and inclusion. EVNoire works to advance equitable, multimodal e-mobility solutions within electric, connected, shared, and autonomous vehicle technologies. We utilize our expertise, a human-centric approach, and data-driven frameworks to integrate and amplify e-mobility best practices and e-mobility diversity, equity, and inclusion in the transportation sector. EVNoire works with partners ranging from auto manufacturers, transit authorities, utilities, and government agencies, to charging network companies, non-profits, community-based organizations, and rideshare and delivery network companies. EVNoire's mission is to accelerate an equitable, cleaner, and greener e-mobility future for all. EVNoire's vision is that e-mobility best practices and e-mobility diversity, equity & inclusion be centered in the transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The co-founders of EVNoire are also the co-founders of EVHybridNoire, a national 501c3, that is the nation’s largest network of diverse EV drivers and enthusiasts.EVHybridNoire’s mission is to increase awareness of multimodal zero-emissions transportation while accelerating its adoption.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Midwest Program Manager, who will be based in the Midwest US will facilitate work across both organizations. The Midwest Program Manager reports to the Director of Programs and is responsible for the following:

  • Managing the execution of contracts, projects, and programs in the Midwest US
  • Managing the key relationships for across both organizations in the Midwest US
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of multiple e-mobility programs and campaign plans in several different cities and states
  • Representing EVHybridNoire at coalition tables, conferences and in meetings with policymakers and partners, and advocating for EVHybridNoire’s priorities
  • Developing bi-annual regional program plan and strategy in line with our grant requirements and regional goals
  • Helping to facilitate public outreach efforts, including focus groups and listening sessions with target audiences, to understand public awareness and attitudes around e-mobility
  • Drafting and submitting opinion pieces, research summaries and action alerts to media outlets, online forums and EVHybridNoire’s citizen members
  • Keeping abreast of policy and e-mobility market developments in multiple states, to help ensure we direct our resources toward where they are most needed and can have the biggest impact 
  • Managing and directing events in the Midwest and assembling teams to execute events and complete project deliverables 
  • Reporting out on the latest policy and e-mobility market developments in the region
  • Determining opportunities for organizational engagement and growth in the region, including monitoring new RFPs and Grant Opportunities
  • Sourcing and applying for RFPs and creating partnerships for RFPs in the Midwest Region related to our work 
  • Working with our team, as well as with our partners and decision-maker contacts, to develop policy proposals that advance EVHybridNoire’s priorities
  • Building and nurturing working relationships with decision-makers, advocacy partners and opinion leaders in the e-mobility space
  • Drafting updates and reports on our work for internal and external audiences

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • EVNoire / EVHybridNoire Regional Managers & Program Director, Research Staff
  • External facing partners - Project Partners, Employers, Community Members/Employees, Utilities, Charging Network Providers, Community leaders/Elected officials, OEMs, City leads

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3-5 years of related experience in transportation/mobility or a similar field
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrated ability to carry project from inception to completion successfully
  • Knowledge of transportation electrification broadly, and some understanding of how e-mobility intersects with issues of equity, diversity and justice
  • Strong writing skills with a great attention to detail, experience writing for a number of audiences 
  • Experience applying an equity lens to transportation advocacy and campaigns
  • An understanding of policy-making processes broadly, and the ability to think strategically about how to navigate those processes
  • Experience working across departments and disciplines
  • Experience in communications and/or grassroots public outreach work 
  • Some existing relationships within the transportation and equity arenas, especially in the Midwest U.S.
  • An entrepreneurial and self-driven approach to problem solving
  • A proven ability to juggle and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision (ideally in a remote working environment) 
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a great attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to travel - travel is required to attend client meetings, conferences, facilitate trainings/presentations and/or execute events
  • Stable, High-speed Internet access

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Program implementation and management experience
  • Experience living/working in the Midwest U.S.
  • Experience working on a collaborative program team
  • Familiarity with e-mobility best practices, clean transportation 
  • Experience working with underserved populations/communities

Location
