Position Summary:
The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring and maintaining functional and secure networks at EverLine including internal and customer infrastructure. This position engages with customers and technical staff to ensure routine network maintenance and network projects are successfully executed and customer needs are met or exceeded. The position requires 8-10 years of experience managing network infrastructure and a strong understanding of cyber security as it relates to the energy industry.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
▪ Oversees network architecture through performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance and repair.
▪ Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) as part of upgrade projects or new network designs/builds.
▪ Implement Everline's Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on traditional Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems.
▪ Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices.
▪ Monitor network performance and integrity; troubleshoot and repair.
▪ Conduct vulnerability scanning and document system vulnerabilities.
▪ Support ISO standardization and Quality inspections.
▪ Participate in continuous improvement of organizational cybersecurity posture.
▪ Perform forensics and remedial action on cybersecurity incidents.
▪ Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery).
▪ Maintain complete technical documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, abilities, and Other Personal Characteristics:
▪ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Masters or PhD preferred.
▪ Professional Certification (CCIE or Equivalent) preferred.
▪ 8-10 years of progressive network administration experience.
▪ Advanced troubleshooting capabilities in relevant IT infrastructure/architectures.
▪ Familiarity with access control models and network security.
▪ Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools.
▪ Solid understanding of network operating systems.
▪ Program or multiple-project management experience.
▪ Knowledge of the energy industry (oil, gas, electric, renewable).
▪ Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying written technical information.
▪ Ability to work as part of a team.
▪ Able to learn and apply new technical information quickly.
▪ Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships, customer service orientated.
▪ Strong organization and dependable time management skills.
▪ Able to be responsive to critical operating situations.
▪ Highly organized and capable of concurrently managing multiple projects and team members.
Work Environment:
The employee will work in an office environment, utilizing standard office and computing equipment. At times, the employee may be required to visit an operational location that requires following safety and PPE, such as FR clothing, hard hat, boots. Less than 25% travel. Standard work hours with after-hours support/on-call for crisis support on a set schedule.
The employee is required to be present in the EverLine Ellington office full-time for the first 6 months of employment. The employee may then shift to 3 days onsite, 2 days working remotely.
If working remotely, the employee will be required to support video teleconferencing when applicable, as well as attend teleconference meetings originating in other time zones, which may occur outside normal working hours. The employee will interface with remote employees, requiring reliance on email and phone communications, as well as ability to maintain productivity while working autonomously.
