Evansville Surgery Center is Hiring a Front Desk Receptionist Near Evansville, IN

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the clerical and receptionist activities within the facility’s front business office. These activities include greeting patients and visitors, answering the telephones. Working as a healthcare office professional in a team environment. Providing clerical support services for management.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Greet patients and family members as they arrive at the surgery center.

a. If scheduled for surgery, ask the privacy questions.

b. Pull patients chart and hand to the admitter

c. If the patient has requested “no info to be given out”, inform the admitter.

2. Answer the phone.

a. If the call is for a physician, check the schedule to see what OR room the physician will be in.

b. Intercom into the room and tell the circulating nurse that Dr. has a call park on line .

3. Distribute schedule changes that arrive by fax and/or any other information from the fax.

a. Make 4 copies.

b. Give one to the admitter, put one in the purchasing coordinator’s try, one to Pre-op and place one a clip board in the OR hallway.

c. If there is a cancellation or schedule change early in the morning, please communicate to all areas.

d. If the OR charge nurse is gone for the day, please call her on her home and cell phones to relay the message.

4. Make coffee and keep waiting room tidy

5. Serve soft drinks and snacks to families in lobby areas several times a day.

6. Inventory office supplies once a week.

7. Fill out office supply form and email to business office receptionist.

8. Keep office equipment i.e. copiers and fax machines, stocked with paper.

9. Make travel arrangements for training seminars, etc., for the Administrator, Clinical Director, and Controller.

10. Once a week, reconcile petty cash box.

11. Typing, as needed.

12. All other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND MEASURES FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Speaking/Hearing: Communicates with physician and center’s personnel. Above average hearing.

Seeing/Reading: Will read a variety of reports, documents, policies and procedures, and publications. Will need good hand and eye coordination to key information into computer via a computer keyboard.

Mobility: Must have ability to be up and down on feet mostly carpeted or tiled surfaces and up and down ramps and stairs.

Documenting/Writing: Must routinely produce reports and correspondence in a professional manner primarily utilizing a computer workstation located at an average height of 28 inches.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Must be computer literate and able to perform work accurately. Prefer three (3) years of experience in a hospital and/or ambulatory surgery setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position works in an environmentally controlled office setting, with average accommodations. Minor lifting is required (less than 25 pounds). Required to use equipment such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, calculators, and typewriters.
