SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER

Reports To:Sr. Project Manager

Status:Full-time, Exempt

Primary Areas of Focus

  • Advanced Engineering Design
  • Quality Assurance & Control
  • Mentor/ Trainer

Core Responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate in-depth, comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles in one or more technical areas.
  • Demonstrate specialized knowledge in an area that allows them to support themselves with outside work or provide support to multiple teams using their specialization.
  • Proficient in software applicable to their specialist.
  • Create training material, develop standards, workflows, and processes.
  • Mentor others, provide training to the broader organization, and provide technical support to multiple project teams.
  • Provide final plan set quality assurance and control. Review and approval may require stamping.
  • Act as the primary engineer on projects requiring technical expertise and often self-performing core engineering duties to produce design drawings, prepare technical reports, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Conduct market research on new technologies and best practices related to specialized design and lead knowledge sharing with others.
  • Develop and utilize modeling software and techniques to perform design.
  • Participate in conceptual design meetings.
  • In depth knowledge of water resources, hydraulics, and hydrology
  • Perform due diligence, project research, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Support business development activities to procure high-level and complex projects.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to specialty.
  • Participate in construction administration and observation.
  • Participate in the execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Initiate lunch and learn for new technology or best practices.
  • Understand and follow EPS Group practices and processes to perform tasks on time and within budget.
  • Accomplish work without considerable direction. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation of criteria to obtain desired results. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives. Take calculated risk with consultation from the Project Manager or Director.
  • Accountable for situational success. Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation. Determine and pursue alternative paths towards a solution. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and criteria evaluation to obtain results consistent with policies and practices.
  • Accountable for project success within area of specialized knowledge and expertise. Develop project work plan for design tasks within area of specialized knowledge and expertise. Coordinate specialty-specific work plan and workflow with other project design elements.
  • Manage project resources and workflow for design elements within area of specialized knowledge and expertise.
  • This role is an individual contributor role.
  • Decision-making has a significant effect on project resources and achieving project goals.
  • This position has the responsibility to meet project revenue targets.
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance preferred.
  • Responsible for completing timecards accurately and on time.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing land development projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Proficient knowledge of Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Pipe Networks.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills, including leading up, across, and down the organization with various team sizes internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Career experience in Maricopa, Pima, or Pinal counties in AZ.
