Spencer Ogden is Hiring a (Hybrid) Project Engineer - Land Development Near Mesa, AZ

Spencer Ogden is partnered with an engineering firm that is eager to grow their ranks by welcoming a new Project Engineer (PE) who will specialize in managing drainage-related tasks. This role is pivotal for the Land Development and Public Works divisions within Arizona. We are on the lookout for someone with over 4 years of experience, demonstrating a commitment to drainage engineering through increasing responsibility in both public and private initiatives. The right candidate will be deeply passionate about pursuing a career in drainage engineering, eager to enhance their skills and knowledge with the mentorship of experienced professionals in the field. Key qualifications include proficiency in developing hydrologic and hydraulic models, crafting detailed engineering reports, mentoring junior engineers, coordinating project components with other teams and subcontractors, and ensuring the quality and completion of project deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and quality-assure the work of EITs, CAD Technicians, and Designers.
  • Take on the design responsibilities for straightforward projects, focusing on grading and drainage.
  • Independently prepare comprehensive report documents.
  • Conduct final assessments of basic utility and drainage reports, providing official approval.
  • Independently develop detailed models.
  • Facilitate discussions with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver presentations on technical matters.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant codes, practices, QA/QC standards, performance metrics, and specifications.
  • Manage and report on project timelines, budgets, schedules, and scope.
  • Define project requirements.
  • Draft plan document cross-sections.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A valid Professional Engineering License.
  • A minimum of four years' experience in project planning and execution, particularly in land development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in scheduling software being advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both written and oral.
  • Capability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
