GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The HR Benefit Specialist is responsible for performing human resources related duties on a professional level and works closely with Senior HR Management. This position has responsibilities in the following areas: benefits, data reporting, policy implementation, employment law compliance and employee relations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Relations:
- Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
- Support employees with any questions and needs regarding company policies, employment verifications, etc.
- Assist Senior HR Management with employee relations issues as needed.
- Assist and/or develop programs, projects and special assignments.
- Assist with special events, campaigns, etc.
- Assist in staff development trainings.
- Assist with Worker’s Compensation claims
Benefits:
- Assist in new hire orientation process regarding benefits, leave, etc.
- Assist with open enrollment
- Research billing issues related to carriers
- Administer wellness program
- Advise managers and supervisors about benefits packages, FMLA, LOA , Light duty etc. Counsels managers on related issues.
- Process STD and LTD claims
General:
- Employment verification and/or salary information requests
- Reemployment Assistant Claims
- MVR Clearance Tracking
- Assist with Professional Development tracking
- Assist with other departments regarding grant request for personnel information
- Ensure employee file compliance per department contracts and/or regulatory agencies
- Special projects as assigned by Director and VP of HR
- Assist with ECS recognition program

Requirements
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
- This position reports to the HR Director
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for minimum qualifications.)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of employment and labor laws
- Excellent verbal, written and listening abilities
- Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a team setting
- A polished professional image and demeanor with effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to plan and organize work as well as maintain records and prepare reports
- Ability to cope with conflicting points of view and function under pressure
- Ability to work with people with various cultural backgrounds, levels of education, and experience
- Certificates of acknowledgement required: Conflict of Interest, Code of Ethics, Confidentiality agreements, IT Systems and Security, Anti-Fraud, HR Employee Acknowledgement Form.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Works in an office setting with occasional travel to program sites required
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Acceptable eyesight & hearing (with or without correction)
- Ability to reach, lift, bend knees, stoop, push or pull items weighing 25 lbs. or less
