Position Summary

Empower is in pursuit of a dynamic Director of Total Rewards, a role that extends far beyond traditional compensation and benefits management. This position is about innovation, leadership, and strategic vision in creating a total rewards philosophy that resonates with Empower's mission to deliver quality, affordable medication. The Director will lead the charge in architecting and implementing cutting-edge rewards strategies that attract, retain, and inspire our team. You'll ensure that our rewards reflect the diversity and dynamism of our workforce, aligning closely with Empower's strategic objectives. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive total rewards strategy aligned with the organization's business goals and objectives
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and administration of competitive compensation programs, including base pay, incentives, and equity compensation.
  • Leads the evaluation, selection, and administration of employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other fringe benefits ensuring they are cost-effective, compliant, and meet the diverse needs of our workforce. 
  • Stays informed of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. 
  • Partners with senior leadership and the Board of Directors to design and manage executive compensation programs including salary, bonuses, and stock options ensuring competitiveness and alignment with company performance and shareholder interests.
  • Develops and implements employee recognition and well-being initiatives to promote a culture of appreciation, work-life balance, and employee satisfaction.
  • Conducts market research, data analysis, and benchmarking to ensure our total rewards programs remain competitive and drive employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance requirements related to compensation and benefits programs.
  • Partners with HR and Communication teams to develop effective communication strategies and educational materials to help employees understand and maximize the value of their total rewards package.
  • Fosters a culture that promotes innovation, collaboration, and professional growth that aligns with Empower's values.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, offers constructive feedback, and contributes to direct reports development, focusing on excellence and innovation.
  • Partners with department leadership in the hiring process including interviewing, training, and onboarding new employees.
  • Manages relationships with external vendors, such as benefits providers and compensation consultants, and negotiate contracts and ensure that vendors deliver quality services.
  • Collaborates with other HR functions, finance, and senior leadership to align total rewards strategies with overall business goals.
  • Regularly reviews and updates total rewards programs to ensure they remain competitive and meet the evolving needs of the organization and its workforce.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of compensation principles, practices, and trends, with experience in job evaluation, salary benchmarking, and incentive plan design.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant employment laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in total rewards management, including compensation, benefits, and executive compensation.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role directing, developing, and evaluating the performance of direct reports. 
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred
  • Experience in designing and managing executive compensation programs, including stock-based incentives and deferred compensation.
