Description

The Emory Brain Health Center combines psychiatry and behavioral sciences, rehabilitation medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, and sleep medicine to offer complete, coordinated care for disorders of the brain. Bringing these specialties together allows more than 400 researchers and clinicians from different specialties to work in collaboration and predict, prevent, treat, or cure devastating diseases or disorders of the brain. These unique collaborations are demonstrated in some of the more than 20 centers and programs within the Brain Health Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Administers the human resources (HR) operation for assigned School of Medicine (SOM) department(s) by serving as the strategic HR leader, consultant, and subject matter expert (SME) on all HR-related matters including compliance, compensation and rewards, recruiting, employee relations, and training.
  • Works collaboratively with departmental leadership toward the implementation of important SOM-wide strategies such as DEI initiatives and engagement action planning.
  • Delivers comprehensive and regular HR-related communications such as news, policy changes, and best practice information to Faculty, Staff, and other stakeholders. Serves as a key member of the leadership structure.
  • Manages the creation and implementation of new policies and procedures and ensures compliance with existing Emory University guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Closely collaborates with departmental, divisional, and SOM leadership, and University HR on pertinent issues such as organizational structuring and redesign, workforce planning, equity concerns, classification and reclassification requests, succession planning, and employee relations matters.
  • Conceptualizes and develops training and education on a myriad of HR topics, in collaboration with University HR, as needed.
  • Directs the recruitment of key leadership roles within the supported departments and divisions, and manages all search and interview committees.
  • Works closely with SOM Business & Finance, and departmental business and finance leaders on new position management requests, approvals, and other related opportunities.
  • Represents supported departments on University and Healthcare task force and committee meetings.
  • Directs the analysis and reporting of all HR metrics for use by appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responds to all EEOC charges and related complaints, in coordination with the Employee Relations Department, Office of Equity and Inclusion, and Office of the General Counsel.
  • Leads the annual Staff performance management process, including the delivery of equitable and consistent performance ratings and merit increases.
  • Leads departmental efforts to ensure broad-based participation on the SOM annual engagement survey; works with leadership to review and interpret survey data and develop local action planning initiatives.
  • May monitor or maintain budgets and grants, assist with budget development, and prepare related expense reports and reimbursements.
  • May manage a team of HR professionals responsible for functional and transactional activities such as counseling, training, onboarding, orientation, and timekeeping.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources or a related field and eight years of progressively responsible human resources experience as a generalist or in multiple human resources fields such as employment, employee relations, compensation, and/or benefits administration.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a lead or supervisory role required.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and communication skills required.
  • Experience in an academic healthcare center desired.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
