Power Systems Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Power Systems Engineer to work with one of the largest power companies in North America. This person will be responsible for evaluating and designing power systems that will integrate with large telecommunication systems. This Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that each separate system is able to communicate with multiple other systems tied to our client’s infrastructure. The ideal Power System Engineer will have experience designing they systems and will understand network operations.

Key Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems
• Expertise in DC Power Systems
• In-depth knowledge of Batteries, Inverters, and Converters
• Experience in Power System design, implementation, and maintenance
• Familiarity with electrical safety standards and regulations

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement backup power systems to support critical IT infrastructure and operations.
• Conduct regular maintenance and testing of power systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to UPS, batteries, inverters, and converters.
• Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to assess power needs and develop solutions that meet these requirements.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in power systems and incorporate these into the organization's strategy.
• Prepare and maintain documentation related to power system configurations, operations, and maintenance procedures.

• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving abilities to address challenges in power systems design and maintenance
• Teamwork and collaboration with IT staff and external vendors
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Required Certifications/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Professional certification in power systems or electrical engineering is a plus

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to be on-call for emergencies related to power system failures
• Experience with renewable energy systems is a plus
• Ability to travel to different sites for system implementation and maintenance as needed
