McKenney is Hiring a Project Engineer - Carolinas Critical Systems Near Charlotte, NC

JOB SUMMARY

This job requires supporting project teams with the pre-construction, setup, execution, and closeout of new construction mechanical contracting projects according to the company objectives and goals. Duties include but are not limited to supporting project managers and teams with their material take-offs, submittal process, RFIs, procurement process, BIM process, shop drawings, fabrication, overall project scheduling, short-term scheduling, supporting the management of field labor, supporting field coordination, supporting change order pricing, and importing change orders in internal cost analysis system.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supporting project set-up including permitting and site office setup
  • Supporting procurement of equipment, materials, and subs
  • Support the creation and management of the overall project schedule, short-term schedule, and manpower loading including our subcontractors
  • Supporting the creation and management of completion lists and activities
  • Supporting change order pricing
  • Submittals, transmitters, and RFIs
  • Oversee and review of shop drawings and BIM process
  • Supporting our safety program
  • Support of cost reporting and project information logs
  • Support of proper start-up and commissioning
  • Owner training and warranty support
  • Punch list and project close-out

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in engineering or Construction Management or 3 years of mechanical experience/vocational training
  • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Two years of experience managing mechanical work

  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands.
  • Solid reasoning, math, science, and technical skills.
  • Must have a professional appearance.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities.
  • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Must have a means of transportation to and from work to meet required work hours.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS

  • Work involves exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • The work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
  • Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
