Business Development Managers (BDMs) drive the profitable growth of Crest Marines by facilitating effective sales & marketing activities through the retail distribution channels in their assigned territory. In this capacity, BDMs prospect for new distribution opportunities, qualify selected dealerships, assign marketing territories and negotiate dealer agreements.
Duties: BDMs enable dealership success by training dealer sales people on general retail sales tactics, Crest products and key competitive differentiators. Additionally, BDMs are responsible for providing business development direction to dealer principals in support of program requirements outlined by Crest Marine. This assistance includes but is not limited to formulating marketing plans, setting sales targets, providing advice on model mix given knowledge of local market, relaying successful retail merchandising approaches and securing floor plan.
BDM will be responsible for market analysis and reporting, analyzing missed opportunities and implement market improvement initiatives. Furthermore, the BDM is responsible for effectively managing their regional sales goal and for working with the sales program administrator to ensure dealer compliance with all sales programs.
BDM is the primary channel of the “voice of the customer” for input on new product development.
He or she solicits input from end customers and dealers on product feature priorities and is responsible for delivering formal and informal feedback to ensure the needs of the market are addressed successfully. Competitive product analysis is an essential part of this function.
BDM must be willing and able to work 15-20 weekends per year to provide sales support at regional consumer boat shows, training events, dealer open houses and other industry events including factory and dealer events and Crest sponsored training and meetings.
Education & Work Experience: Undergraduate business degree in marketing, retail sales & management or related degree will be viewed favorably. Boating enthusiasts highly favored with experience and knowledge of the boating segment. Three to five years’ experience in retail dealer management or as account manager for competitive products is a minimum requirement.
Experience running or participating in industry events and promotions as well as regional knowledge of dealerships and end-user market characteristics also favored.
