Position Overview: 

As a Finance Manager at EDMO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization. You will be managing financial operations, all cost allocations and general business administration. 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations which includes cost allocations in every aspect of the management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and GAAP at all times.
  • Approve and be the backup for payroll for 500 employees; review 941 reconciliations.
  • Approve and be the backup for AP. 
  • Own the full cycle AR process which includes proper treatment of deferred and earned revenue on a monthly basis; includes tracking budget to actual, forecasting, and communicating with program and administrative staff to make changes as needed.
  • Close the books monthly, quarterly, and annually; resolve balance sheet issues.
  • Manage general business administration which includes follow ups on physical mail, general accounting email inquiries, out-of-state regulations for payroll tax and UI, funder contact, and vendor contact.
  • Create and improve written financial policies as well as how-to guides for the staff as needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff as needed in a professional, timely, and organized manner. 

Financial Reporting and Budgeting:

  • Prepare and present organization financial reports to the CFO on a monthly basis with analyses, findings, and follow ups.
  • Prepare and present contract budget to actual financials to internal stakeholders with recommendations for alignment as needed.
  • Provide support to manage and monitor the organization's budget.
  • Continuously analyze spending and make recommendations on cost efficiency, controls and cuts.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow and strategize monthly cash management.
  • Manage banking and funder relationships.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Manage the full cycle of the annual financial auditing process and 990 filing. 
  • Manage and ensure timely filings of payroll quarterly reports and 401k filings.
  • Ensure compliance with our funder contracts.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and collaboration.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA is a plus.
  • Up to 7 years of experience in financial management, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic financial planning. Non Profit experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, financial software and systems.
  • ??Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to inform financial decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present financial information and recommendations to non-finance staff and senior management.
  • Strong negotiation skills for dealing with financial institutions, vendors, and partners.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address financial challenges and optimize resource allocation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting, allocating costs, auditing, and compliance activities.
  • Ability to create and work with financial models for forecasting and decision-making.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing financial expertise and guidance.
  • Effective time management skills to meet financial reporting deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to ethical decision-making in financial matters, including transparency and integrity.
  • Proficiency in resolving financial conflicts and discrepancies with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Effectively manage and mentor the finance staff.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift 25 pounds to a height of 3-4 feet

Location Requirements:

This position will be hybrid to Northern California and will involve checking the EDMO post office box in Berkeley CA two times per week, sending out time sensitive mailings, and making check deposits at the bank in a timely manner.

COMPENSATION:

This is a full time, regular exempt position. The salary range is $80k - $85k and will be commensurate with experience and location.
