Overview

Title: Operations Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt

Program Description: Pushing Progress Philly (P3), a City of Philadelphia community violence intervention (CVI) program, will serve Philadelphians who are at least 18 years old, at elevated risk of gun violence, and resistant to typical interventions. Program components include street outreach, case management, transitional jobs, coaching and behavioral health curriculum. The P3 goals are to reduce disparities between neighborhoods, particularly economic well-being and community safety disparities, increase opportunities for Black men to participate in the workforce and to have increased economic security, and improve neighborhood safety, with a reduction in gun violence, fewer homicides, and safer streets. Neighborhoods of CVI-P3 program delivery include Germantown, Allegheny West, Nicetown-Tioga, Cobbs Creek, Kingsessing, Elmwood Park, Frankford, and Juniata. This Operations Specialist role is part of EDSI’s function as the Coordinating Agency and Administrative Backbone for the P3 program.

Scope of Position

  • Build and maintain relationships with P3 service providers, respecting common mission statement and their key area of service expertise
  • Provide operational support to key deliverables for each service provider
  • Serve as operational point person for specific partner initiatives, including and not limited to prison partnerships and housing resources
  • Manage communications to service providers and respond to questions and support request
  • Ensure accurate and regular reporting of data on all services, including data summaries

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate and take direction from the Senior Program Manager to develop and maintain program schedules, goals, and objectives.
  • Provide localized support in the management of daily stipends.
  • Ensure that program components, including street outreach, case management, job coaching, and transitional jobs are receiving effective program support and training needs are being met throughout partners and zip codes.
  • Meet potential program participants inside of correctional facilities, including and not limited to Philadelphia Department of Prisons locations, to make an introduction to P3 programming, benefits, and connect them to the outreach team
  • Provide case management and serve as the point of contact for participants who receive PHA housing vouchers and other strategic partner support services
  • Provide routine reporting and timely response to inquiries about P3/PHA participants
  • Assist and give input on development of program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Assist in organizing community events and outreach efforts to raise awareness and involvement in the program.
  • Collaborate with the program team, including street outreach workers, case managers, coaches, and behavioral health specialists, to ensure efficient program delivery.
  • Adapt to additional responsibilities as P3 program evolves
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and open communication.
  • Assist with preparation of internal reports on program progress, including synthesizing raw data, analyzing data, summarizing outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and diversity within the program.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, public administration, or a related discipline). Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in program management and operations in the human services sector.
  • Knowledge of Philadelphia's communities and the dynamics of gun violence in the city.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of participants and team members.
  • Commitment to the program's mission of reducing gun violence and improving the lives of at-risk individuals.
  • Personal experience and deep understanding of specific communities served by CVI
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
