Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a Technical Writer to work with our federal clients supporting the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals/guides, program management and/or governance documents, business process flows (using BPMN), diagrams, slide presentations and related technical documents designed for a wide range of audiences.
• Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing team members, Federal clients and/or teams from other offices, observing performance of production methods, and referring to technical specifications.
• Leads process for updating and versioning of SOPs, technical specifications, requirements documentation and manual/guides.
• Conducts quality review of illustrative materials, sketches, diagrams and charts.
• May be called upon to assist in training presentations to support changes in the SOPs.
• Selects or recommends use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publications objectives.
• Support activities and tasks related to the client’s Digital Transformation initiative, including but not limited to process interviews and requirements gathering, product documentation, attending additional training, and other ad hoc requests.
• Establish project timelines to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Review deliverables and artifacts as needed.
• Help identify opportunities for process improvements and support implementation of standardized processes; update appropriate documents to reflect current as-is state
• Assist the team with day-to-day operations as needed, including performing tasks for data collection and reporting, administrative and program support, and other ad hoc tasks.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship
• Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 6 - 9 years of experience writing and editing technical documents
• Ability to provide technical solutions, working under only general direction, to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Must be detail-oriented and be able to effectively multitask while maintaining high work quality.
• Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
• Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive.
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines effectively.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong dedication to customer service.
