We are urgently hiring a Jr. Systems Engineer to support our client, a global leader in manufacturing and distributing rechargeable batteries used for electric vehicles, IT, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), located in Kokomo, IN. This a 6 month contract, which could extend or convert to hire. Their facility in Kokomo, Indiana, plays a crucial role in the global supply chain for advanced battery technology. At the Indiana factory, engineers will be working with cutting-edge technology to produce EV battery cells and modules. Job Description:

As a Junior Systems Engineer, you will support one of the largest electric-vehicle battery manufacturing facilities in the US. This role is responsible for the effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The system administration tasks will focus on improving system stability and performance, maintaining and enhancing security, continuous monitoring of system health, and troubleshooting issues that arise.

Responsibilities:

• Engineering systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
• Installing new/rebuilding existing servers and configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Installing and configuring systems that support MES infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures.
• Configuring/maintaining storage equipment and troubleshooting with vendors.
• Installing and maintaining security patches on operational and development systems, including Red Hat Linux (Centos, Ubuntu, etc.), Windows 2008/2k8R2/2k12, VMWare, and Apache web services.
• Reporting Security Patch compliance.
• Performing daily system monitoring, verifying hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes' integrity and availability, reviewing system and application logs, and ensuring completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up, and creating recovery tapes or disks.
• Creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request as necessary.
• Applying OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities, configuring/adding new services as necessary.
• Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization, configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in systems engineering or administration.
• Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration.
• Experience with installation/configuration of server hardware and software.
• Familiarity with storage systems and network infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
