Alameda Health Partners is recruiting an Attending Gastroenterologist trained in interventional endoscopy to be a clinical provider in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Alameda Health System. The position is charged with developing an interventional endoscopy program and supporting the clinical and academic mission of the Division, the Department of Medicine, and Alameda Health System. Alameda Health System is a major public health system and medical training institution headquartered in Oakland, CA. Clinical responsibilities constitute the majority of the scope of work for this position. This includes the care of GI/Liver patients in both the hospital and ambulatory setting. Academic responsibilities are embedded within the role and include active participation in all teaching programs related to the Division and the Department. This position reports directly to the Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Job Responsibilities:
· Develop and manage an interventional endoscopy program for Alameda Health System.
· Provide safe, high-quality, and guidelines/standards-based clinical care for GI/Liver Clinic patients in both the hospital and ambulatory setting. The clinical schedule will be determined by the Division Chief. This includes but is not limited to:
o Inpatient GI/Liver consult service at the system hospitals
o GI/Liver Clinics
o General and interventional endoscopy
· Provide clinical support to other members of the Division as directed by Division leadership.
· Support and contribute to the academic and teaching mission of the Division and the Department of Medicine as directed by the Division Chief and Chair of Medicine. This includes, but is not limited to:
o All teaching programs
o Clinical research
· Participate in academic, operational, and strategic planning related to the Division.
· Support the culture of collaboration and excellence in the Division and the Department.
· Participate in organizational programs and committees, as directed by Division and Department leadership. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Medical staff committees
o Programs related to safety, compliance, and patient satisfaction
Qualifications:
Required:
· M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school and board certification/board eligibility in Gastroenterology
· Completion of an additional year of training in interventional endoscopy or equivalent. Full competency in diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP and EUS. Competencies in ESD and POEM would be welcome.
· Medical staff credentialing, including California medical licensure and DEA license
· A positive, patient, and collaborative attitude
· A committed interest in medical education
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
· Clinical experience in a safety-net setting
· A track record of excellence in clinical care, education, and research
