East Bay Medical Group is Hiring a Primary Care Physician Near Oakland, CA

East Bay Medical Group and the Department of Medicine at Highland Hospital are seeking a primary care physician to join the Division of Primary Care within Alameda Health System.

Alameda Health System (AHS) is dedicated to providing the highest quality health care to all residents of Alameda County founded in the mission of “Caring, Healing, Teaching, and Serving All. AHS strives to provide culturally sensitive care to the diverse communities of the East Bay and has Wellness Centers in Oakland, Hayward, and Newark. The Primary Care Division is home to 12 academic general internists and is particularly committed to addressing inequities in health and health care due to racism, xenophobia, and other systemic injustices.

The Adult Medicine Clinic is the flagship academic primary care clinic of our system, caring for over 8,000 empaneled patients annually through 33,000 unique visits per year. With attention to team-based care, our clinic offers robust integrated behavioral health services, nurse and pharmacist visits for chronic disease management, and a primary care addiction treatment team.

About East Bay Medical Group:

East Bay Medical Group is a multispecialty entity that supports the majority of physicians who staff Alameda Health System. We recently formed in July 2020 from two prior medical groups, producing a practitioner base that spans from new residency graduates to tenured master clinicians who have been at AHS for more than 30 years. Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to patients in the Highland Hospital Adult Medicine Clinic, with focus on longitudinal care for an assigned patient panel
  • Deliver patient-centered team-based care within the Bridge Program to support the expansion of comprehensive and multidisciplinary services for patients with substance abuse disorders

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Participate in Primary Care Division activities, including Division meetings, Division working groups, and providing peer review and evaluation

Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise internal medicine residents in the Adult Medicine Clinic
  • Interview applicants for the Primary Care Training program
  • Participate in academic and scholarly activities, including but not limited to teaching faculty and residents, participation in quality improvement activities, and/or conducting research

Qualifications

• Board certification or eligibility for certification in Internal Medicine

• Valid California Medical License and DEA License (Preferred: DATA-2000 “X Waiver”)

• Clinical experience in primary care medicine and systems improvement activities

• Commitment to improving medical care for vulnerable populations

• Interest in medical education and residency teaching

• Strong skills in teamwork, verbal communication, and written communication

• Preferred: Language fluency in addition to English, especially in languages commonly spoken by patients of the Adult Medicine Clinic, e.g. Spanish, Tigrinya, Amharic, Mien, Cantonese, or Vietnamese
