What You'll Do

As the Health and Safety Technician, you will assist as a support function to the Health and Safety Technician and the Environmental Engineer in the following areas:
Support function in providing assistance to HSE in the areas of required inspections of facility safety equipment, health monitoring, waste handling,environmental sampling, environmental data collection and documentation of these activities at the Cheyenne Plant.Other duties will include:

• Thorough working knowledge and understanding of H&S regulatory compliance requirements for U.S. locations. (Local, state/national).
• Ensure compliance with applicable DN HSEQ Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts andregulations.
• Complete Safe Act Observations, Gemba Walks and Take 5'sSupport of Health and Safety department for the Cheyenne Plant
• Conducting or assisting in Root Cause Analysis
• Conducting annual testing and recertification of OSHA mandated topics
• Safety Day planning and implementation
• Update monthly safety data for Key Performance Indicator Boards
• Assist plant personnel and contractors with environmental and safety training
• Support Environmental department for the Cheyenne Plant
• Daily Environmental Duties (Daily Report data entry, compliance checks and filing)
• Quarterly UIC Data Collection and Review
• Assist with bi-Annual pumping and static water level data collection, bi-Annual SWPPP facility
• Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral basedsafety. (Ensure SAO, JSA, Take 5's, stretching, and all safety rules are being completed.)
• Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts andregulations.
• Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values
• Supports BEx initiatives and ensures participation from all areas of responsibility.
• Mentor and coach BU leadership in the use of techniques and employee centered involvement initiatives that increase employee awareness of their role in ensuring a safe place of work.
• Provide training to employees focused on all aspects of H&S activities and expectations
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, teambuilding workshops and special working groups to continually improve performance and replicate best practices
• Develop and deliver or applicable H&S training for employees, supervisors, and management team.
• Direct and support H&S functions at multiple facilities regionally.
• Monitor regulatory arena for new regulations and rulemaking.
• Act as H&S consultant to Business Units.
• Oversee Workers Compensation issues including modified duty for return to work programs.
• Demonstrate a strategic approach for H&S in supporting business units.
• Provide leadership and direction to all echelons of employees to continue to shape a world class safety culture;
• Provide analysis and support for office and field staff; providing safety support through active participation and guidance on how to perform site work
• 50% Out-of-state-travel required to attend meetings.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety Management or related field is required. Advanced degree and/or professional certification desired. (CSP or CIH Preferred)
• Some plant experience preferred.
• Associates in related field will be considered.
• Previous HSE knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of local and federal regulatory rulessurrounding HSE strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills with a working knowledge ofthe Microsoft Office Program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
