POSITION OVERVIEW

The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for managing scope of work, safety, quality, production schedule, budget, manpower, and site team for assigned projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT ESTIMATING

  • Completes all bids in estimating software.
  • Performs adequate due diligence in preparation of bids, with respect to take-offs and requests for quotations.
  • Adequately screens subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Prepares all bids, as assigned in minimum weekly bid meetings; completes estimates for emergency work as defined by management.
  • Successfully bids work; properly assesses project requirements, including job costs and scheduling factors affecting the work, and appropriately allocates labor and material.
  • Coordinates pre-qualifications, project eligibility, site visits, bid document preparation and bid delivery.
  • Uses most current Accubid database for all pricing.
  • Provides timely and accurate information for preparation of bid.
  • Assists in expanding the company's overall MBE Compliance Program.

PROJECT COORDINATION

  • Prepares manpower forecast, job set-up, WIP, Billing SOV and other project worksheets as required.
  • Directs permitting process, contract review for compliance with bid scope and pricing.
  • Coordinates with Operations, General Superintendent, and Safety Manager to ensure proper job staffing and allocation of company resources.
  • Manages project to maximize profitability of the entire job.
  • Manages submittals of monthly billings and ensures proper cost coding.
  • Establish production tracking and cost monitoring systems for the job and maintain during the life of the job.
  • Manages project quality as it relates to field personnel, safety accountability, project supervision and use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains project records, communication with Ops team.
  • Manage job close out process and assists with final accounting needs.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Succinctly and cordially responds to customer requests.
  • Develops relationships with both customers and vendors to the benefit of the company.
  • Assists in identification of prequalification opportunities.
  • Exceed customer expectations on assigned projects.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

SAFETY AND QUALITY CONTROL

  • Enforces Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Company and Job Safety Requirements
  • Comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Immediately address all safety concerns and ensure proper reporting to the Safety Manager of all jobsite incidents within 24 hours.
  • Review assigned projects for overall quality assurance and
  • Identify and correct deficiencies which affect overall quality and production.
  • Confirm adequate onsite record keeping of quality assurance practices including preparation of as-builts.

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • OSHA 30
  • First Aid / CPR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Cumulative total of five (5) years of progressive experience in construction.
  • Firm understanding to lead, coach, and train team members; monitor their work for quality and completeness; and foster a positive work environment that encourages the personal and professional growth of all team members.
  • General knowledge of estimating, scheduling, budget/cost control, negotiation, field supervision, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated organizational, leadership, analytical, and communication skills necessary to organize resources, including people, materials, equipment, tools, and time to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and implement plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve or escalate issues with subcontractors and other third parties in a timely manner.
  • General knowledge of solicitation, negotiation, award, and management of subcontracts, including without limitations, preparation of bid and subcontract scope language.
  • Ability to create baseline schedules using logic/constraints.
  • Ability to use construction management software.

Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment, particularly when in the field, can vary significantly and at times be very loud.

A successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
