Durango Coca-Cola is Hiring a District Sales Manager Near Durango, CO

Overview: In this role, you are responsible for the development, application, and execution of sales plans and goals designed to increase sales, profits, and market share for an assigned territory. The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for developing and retaining accounts, and acquiring new accounts within an assigned geography, with the flexibility to adjust distribution frequency and order-taking procedures to better meet customer needs. Additionally, this role will execute Looks of Success, sell and implement campaigns, track call activity and performance against goals, and build customer relationships, delivering exceptional customer service on multiple routes within an assigned territory. This position plays a key role in developing customer relationships, and will review business results with customers, ensuring that accounts meet Company merchandising standards and goals.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train the Home Market sales team and Merchandisers in assigned geographies
  • Contact and maintain a relationship with all Store Managers as well as the District Manager(s) for each account
  • Responsible for all corporate sales through Home Market channels including but not limited to; supermarkets, mass merchandisers, independent grocery stores, convenience stores, and any other accounts that are sold by the Home Market department
  • Support each sales team member to secure displays’ weekly aligning with the store’s display planner and our LOS
  • Ensure the implementation and execution of the Company’s sales and marketing strategies, merchandising, and Company standards with Home Market customers
  • Manage product returns, such as out of date and damaged products, and overtime and work to reduce those Company costs as budgeted annually
  • Responsible for increasing sales execution, quality assurance, product rotation as well as safety within assigned geographies
  • Maintain auto insurance, mileage reporting, and servicing of vehicle per the Company Vehicle Use Policy, whether operating a Company provided vehicle or a personally owned vehicle

    Additional:

  • The role will travel to various customer sites, as a result each environment will vary.
  • Extensive regional day travel is required with this role.
  • To accomplish tasks, the position will need to work around a variety of weather environments (i.e. sun, rain, sleet, rain, snow, excessive cold & heat).
  • This position is very active and requires constant standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and spend their time both on the customer floor and in their back room(s). As a result, they should expect a fast-paced production environment and willfrequently lift and/or move items up to 65 pounds. (Moving equipment and tools will be provided to reduce strains and injury.)
  • The role is expected to be able to lift and carry 65 lbs. repetitively. Must be able to lift weight above shoulders and below waist. Must be able to push and pull a manual pallet jack with a pallet of product on level and sloped surfaces moving pallets weighing up to 2,600 lbs. Must be able to push and pull beverage carts weighing up to 1,000 lbs. on level and sloped surfaces.
  • The role will have occasional to frequent twisting, grasping, reaching, bending, kneeling, sitting, stooping, crouching, crawling, and will be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work hours: 5:00am – 7:00am start until routes are complete, Monday through Friday (Start times may vary slightly according to route assignment.)More than 40 hours per week may be required to complete the assigned job duties on various weeks.
  • Additional or alternative days/times may be occasionally needed, depending on customer and/or promotional campaign including holidays.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 2 years of college or the equivalent in Direct Store Delivery work experience
  • 2 years of beverage management experience
  • 4 years of experience in the soft drink business preferred
  • Valid driver’s license (no major traffic violations and no more than 2 minor violations in the last 3 years)
  • Understanding of promotional activities, product lines, and competitive positioning
  • Must be MS Office proficient (Outlook, Excel, Word) and be able to operate on iPhone / iPad devices
  • Successful track record of building strong business relationships within the marketplace and exceptional customer relations skills required, with the ability to defuse customer disputes creating a win-win outcome
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and the sales team members
  • Must maintain professional appearance with customers which upholds Durango Coca-Cola’s brand image
