ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties

may be assigned.

• Edits orders received for price and name.
• Informs customer of unit prices, shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by customer.
• Writes or types order form, and enters data into computer, to determine total cost for customer. Generates invoice to give to Production and Shipping personnel.
• Records or files copy of orders received according to expected delivery date.
• Reviews credit available for each customer when inputting an order.
• Routes orders to departments for filling and follows up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates.
• Computes price, discount and shipping charges.
• Recommends type of packing or labeling needed on order.
• Receives and checks customer complaints.
• Confers with production, sales, shipping personnel to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments.
• Compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management.
• Receives cash or checks from customers or employees in payment for goods. Makes change and issues receipts or tickets to customers.
• Complies with policies and procedures established for Customer Order Department.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience

and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in

one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the

organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,

proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,

oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in

standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

No special certificates are needed.

COMPUTER SKILLS

General understanding of accounting software specific to customer order entry. Ability to

enter date into accounting software promptly and accurately. Must have ability to operate a

1 0-key calculator.
