Doskocil Mfg. is Hiring a Receiving Supervisor 1st Shift Near Arlington, TX

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ensure all safety checks have been completed on all forklifts by receiving department associates 
  2. Verify the shift lead schedules the correct number of people to the assigned areas, presses. Print production schedule for the day and verify if any changes have been made and make personnel adjustments as needed.
  3. Review shortages with other supervisors and investigate why the items were short. Follow up with purchasing scheduling and production involving any item shortages. Maintain constant contact with production supervisors to obtain any raw material needs.
  4. Walk through receiving areas to ensure employee productivity, correct problems, maintain housekeeping, and verify employees are following safety policies and procedures. Instruct and supervise employees on the proper way to complete their jobs.
  5. Attend daily shift meetings to review shift numbers and changes in production or shipments receiving. List all priorities and post on board in office.
  6. Communicate with forklift maintenance and repair employees. Inform them of any problems and schedule times for all repairs.
  7. Print out pick list and distribute to the correct employees.
  8. Update label system to static screen after verifying everything is correct. Design and make any labels needed.
  9. Verify items on the pull system to ensure adequate supply for demand, this includes pallets and paper bags. Reorder all items when needed.
  10. Handle any recall item problems. Count all items to be placed into the recall system, move the items in computer from location to recall, list the reason for the recall, and scrap out and dispose of any items if needed.
  11. Maintain and oversee outside processing. Assign employees to pull the correct items, notify scheduling department and outside vendors when the items are ready to ship, and inform trucking company of the shipping weight and size of pallets to be shipped.
  12. Conduct any corrective action necessary to ensure all employees are in compliance with the company policies and procedures.
  13. Review and approve all employee time sheets and forward to payroll. Approve and schedule any employee vacations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Manufacturing Plant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree and a minimum of 3 years of supervisor experience. A minimum of 3 years work experience in a receiving and/or manufacturing environment.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; spreadsheet and word processing Microsoft Office software; Mattec and Oracle. Ability to use company provided technology.
