**This position is required to be in our Fort Wayne, IN office twice weekly.**
Position Summary

DMA’s software solutions include innovative programs and industry-leading services that focus on effective automation of tax processes. As a key leadership role, the Senior Manager, Software Development is accountable for managing and coordinating resources and processes to plan, design, deliver and maintain software releases of DMA products, while participating in defining the strategy for the product development team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage both applications and software engineering teams, consisting of cross-functional resources to deliver technology solutions in support of business strategy and growth
  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to plan and execute projects in accordance with best practices; establish realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring projects remain on target
  • Track actual hours against estimates; anticipate and communicate deviations from original estimate to stakeholders
  • Prepare regular process reports, monitor budgets, receipts, and expenditures related to projects; communicate to applicable stakeholders
  • Ensure teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively
  • Work closely with the product owner, subject matter experts, and clients to define the system’s functional and non-functional requirements; develop business cases for new initiatives (business analysis, business storytelling, presentation)
  • Development and documentation of high-level technical design as well as low-level technical design for new software solutions and new functionality; develop prototypes and proof of concepts as needed; ensure that necessary documentation is prepared and published
  • Provide direction and technical expertise in design, development, and systems integration, helping developers resolve both technical and functional problems
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities to clients with the deployment of software upgrades, enhancements, and fixes that are coordinated based on release schedules
  • Implement and manage technical support for a variety of software solutions; provide technical support as needed
  • Participate in user training and code reviews, as needed
  • Work with the team to maintain and enhance existing software solutions
  • Coordinate and participate in release & sprint planning
  • Manage the talent acquisition process to recruit and lead the engineering team
  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings as well as quality assurance and quality control meetings such as peer reviews
  • Manage, mentor, and lead direct reports; monitor the performance of individual employees, provide leadership and direction, and guide employees to their optimum performance levels
  • Evolve the agile delivery model
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risk
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and evolve existing technology and architecture as needed
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, or a related field
  • 5 years’ management/leadership experience in a software development environment
  • 10 years’ hands-on experience working through the software development life cycle
  • Successful delivery of software development or IT projects
  • Experience with heterogeneous, distributed, web-based application server software development and software clustering
  • Experience with agile practices and the SCRUM methodology
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with software support
  • Strong leadership, project management skills, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent commitment skills (ability to apply feedback; sense of demonstration; embrace professional development; follow through on assigned tasks; passionate about the work; keeps promises; strong team player)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent listening skills
  • Ability to successfully work under tight project timelines
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Travel as required (between 5-10%, approximately)
