District Office is Hiring a DISTRICT ACADEMIC COACH (17768) (#2014) Near Phoenix, AZ

QUALIFICATIONS:
Arizona Elementary Teacher Certification in special education; A minimum of three year's of successful teaching experience in special education; Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To work directly with teachers, model effective teaching strategies, teach a wide range of instructional methods, and increase achievement according to students' IEP goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with special education teachers to enhance instructional programs and strategies in reading, mathematics, and language arts.
  • Model effective lessons and serve as a resource for special education teachers.
  • Support the district-level professional development plan through facilitation, participation, and implementation of staff development, and apply knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Communicate with instructional assistants to enhance existing instructional programs.
  • Work with the Coordinator for Student Services and Compliance to ensure curricular/academic strategies are operating in an effective and productive manner to support services provided to students and teachers.
  • Collaborate with school sites to strengthen special education teachers’ use of instructional strategies and provide feedback to support school improvement plans.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress by understanding and interpreting assessment data to inform and support teachers with instructional decisions, based on analysis of various types of data.
  • Develop observation tools, implement instructional improvement processes with teachers, and maintain a log of support services provided to classroom teachers.
  • Participate as an essential contributing member of the Educational Services Leadership Team.
  • Attend necessary meetings and trainings related to the position.
  • Continue to grow profesionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
