JOB DESCRIPTION: Implement the English Learner Program requirements to ensure academic success for English Learners and meet state and federal documentation requirements including data analysis and coaching staff on EL methodologies. Work closely with the schools and directly with SEI teachers, ILLP teachers, and content teachers who teach English Learners by modeling effective EL teaching strategies, guiding instructional delivery to support EL researched-based strategies into classroom practice, raise academic achievement and increase the English proficiency rates as measured by District and State Assessments. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid Arizona Teacher Certificate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support to the education process of English Learners by understanding the purpose and specifics of academic programs, supplemental and intervention programs to ensure English Learners are meeting/exceeding the ELA Common Core Standards and are making progress towards English language proficiency. 
• Collaborate with school sites to strengthen teachers’ development and use of EL strategies by providing teachers of English Learners in-class support through modeling direct, explicit, systematic instruction, that supports language and literacy development. 
• Observe and monitor instruction within the SEI program and content areas that teach English Learners and provide teachers with feedback. Find trends in support needs and work collaboratively with other staff to design professional development to support the needs. 
• Collaborate with other school districts, charter schools, state and federal agencies, colleges, universities, and professional organizations on matters related to language acquisition.
• Conduct training and meetings as needed to support classroom instruction of English Learners using researched and evidence-based strategies. Support teachers in understanding how to scaffold instruction to ensure that the educational experience of ELs is as rigorous as non-ELs.
• Assist teachers in understanding the importance of data and how to monitor student progress by understanding and interpreting literacy and language assessment data, to inform and support EL instructional decisions, based on various types of data. 
• Support school sites in providing information to parents of ELs through parent workshops on language acquisition, the importance of becoming proficient in the English language as well as how to effectively provide academic support at home. 
• Participate as an essential contributing member of the Educational Services Leadership Team and attend meetings and training pertaining to the position. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.
