DermRight Nurse Practitioners are more than just a dermatology provider, they bring compassion, dedication, energy, and hope to individuals of all ages. The Dermatology Nurse Practitioner will provide specialty medical care in the field or a community setting, often independently. NPs have full practice authority within a population focus with their own license and full prescriptive authority, including controlled substances. NP may diagnose and treat illnesses, manage chronic health problems, perform procedures, and order and interpret tests as it relates to dermatological issues. As responsible healthcare professionals, NPs will engage and consult with other members of the healthcare team as well as DermRight’s management team to ensure the best outcome for the patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide dermatological treatment to patients in their home environment to include but not limited to hospice care, retirement communities, assisted living facilities, group homes, residential private residence, or wherever services are needed throughout Maricopa county and beyond
  • Practice general dermatology to include but not limited to: perform skin examinations, diagnose, and treat skin conditions, perform biopsies, cryosurgery, radio frequency treatment, injection therapy and any other medical dermatological treatment necessary
  • Perform differential medical diagnosis, which includes ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Provide dermatologic consultation to other healthcare providers at patients living facility
  • Counsel patients, caregivers and family members on treatment options and long-term care of their diagnosis
  • Uses current evidence-based knowledge and skills in the assessment, treatment, and disposition of acute, chronically ill and multiple morbidities
  • Refer patients to other specialist and surgeons for necessary skin surgeries such as skin cancer
  • Provide exceptional bedside care and counsel to each patient to ensure they feel comfortable and heard
  • Chart all patient transactions in accordance with company policies on an iPhone or iPad, while in the field
  • Write orders and record progress notes
  • Ability to manage and appropriately respond to rapidly changing physical or psychological status of patients
  • Direct and coordinate activities of medical assistants, if applicable

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unencumbered license to practice nursing in Arizona, DEA licensure/prescriptive authority & BLS
  • MSN and Nurse Practitioner Certification from either the ANCC, AANP or AACN as Adult, Geriatric or Family
  • Covid19 Vaccinated or ability to submit to weekly Covid19 testing
  • iPhone to complete all charting in the field
  • A core foundation of Dermatology understanding and experience including positions that were not as an NP
  • Reliable transportation for extensive daily travel throughout Maricopa County and occasionally surrounding counties
  • Ability to spend at least 1 hour with a patient in their home, which may be in remote areas, in the presence of pets or individuals who are tobacco users
  • Ability to lift a 50-pound bag in and out of car, sit for extended periods of time, walk for extended periods of time throughout campuses and to navigate stairs and a variety of dwelling conditions and configurations
  • Experience in dermatology, gerontology, and home care or home visits
  • Since this position involves in-home visits, the ability to work autonomously
  • Good computer skills using MS Office, email, and Electronic Health Records systems
  • Physical abilities to perform all nursing duties
  • Mental, emotional, and coping skills to perform all nursing duties and deal with death and dying

  • Flexibility to accommodate the needs of patients and provide care to an average of 40-50 patients per week, typically within a normal business day, however, provider is responsible to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Always represent DermRight with the utmost professionalism with your actions and appearance while upholding all legal and ethical standards for medical and non-medical professionals
  • Communicate and work with all DermRight staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high-quality medical treatment and customer service
  • Understanding that work is performed in a setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a medical environment
  • Maintain licensure through Continuing Medical Education credits and participate in professional development
  • Assist management in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues for overall improvements
  • Maintain quality assurance for all medical issues and assist in the solution of any problem
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods and procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Abide by OSHA, HIPAA, and other relevant medical office regulations
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • The ability to effectively communicate with older adults and their families
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe medical environment
  • Skill in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
  • Trustworthy, respectful, dedicated, excellent teamwork, teambuilding, and collaboration skills
