The Global Product Compliance team is accountable for ensuring that our software complies with Australia’s modern awards and US wage and hour laws. We are looking for a full-time highly motivated Compliance professional to augment our global Product Compliance team, based from our Sydney office and working closely with the Director Product Compliance to drive the strategic direction and culture of compliance across Deputy.

This is an individual contributor role which will require our new team member to possess hands-on experience and a robust track record in constructing and executing regulatory frameworks from the ground up. As the Senior Compliance Manager, you will be working closely with key stakeholders across departments, you will establish policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risk and promote ethical conduct. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive sustainable growth in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement regulatory compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Provide comprehensive compliance advice/guidance across obligations and risks
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with complexity, ambiguity and understand the bigger picture 
  • Provision of compliance advisory services for all elements of the compliance framework 
  • Assess the current practice and future initiatives of the business to identify possible compliance risks.
  • Synthesise complex information and prepare clear written compliance guidance and statements of reason for stakeholders 
  • Monitor changes to Australia modern awards, US wage and hour laws, and other regulatory requirements that impact Deputy’s product and partner with the Legal team to interpret such changes.
  • Train cross functional teams on compliance requirements
Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and interpreting legislation/regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on unstructured tasks, be inquisitive, and respectfully challenge the status quo to drive commercial solutions.
  • A ‘business partner’ mindset with an ability to understand the business issues and take a pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Degree in law, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally 5 years experience in legal and/or professional services experience 
  • Having worked for a regulator such as Fair Work (preferred)
  • Knowledge of modern awards (preferred)
  • Experience in tech/SaaS (a bonus)
