Denver Rescue Mission is Hiring a Remote Community Engagement Specialist

Description

For over 130 years Denver Rescue Mission has performed life-changing work in the Denver community. We invite you to join the Mission in the frontline fight to address homelessness in Colorado. The Donor Relations Associate is an integral member of the Mission’s team.

The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) is based in Northern Colorado and is involved with activities at both Fort Collins Rescue Mission and Harvest Farm. The CES is a highly relational individual who engages with both individual and business supporters of Denver Rescue Mission to foster their knowledge, engagement, and financial giving. The CES is responsible for developing, cultivating, and expanding individual and business relationships with potential and existing donors across Northern Colorado, implementing and overseeing a variety of special events both educational and celebratory, and cultivating and managing PR partnerships.

The CES is a non-exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Philanthropy, Northern Colorado.

Hiring Range: $24.04 - 30.05 hourly, based on qualifications and years of experience.

Hiring timeframe: This position will be posted until May 3, 2024 or until filled, whichever is earlier.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The CEM is responsible for efforts in event planning and execution, establish a corporate, small business portfolio of engagement & sponsorship for annual giving, media relations, work in conjunction with marketing team in conducting guest and staff interviews for DRM publications associated with the marketing department, oversee the management of monthly giving program Pathways of Hope (POH), serving as a spokesperson, coordinating, and maintaining relationships with regional professionals and community partners.

General Special Events 

  • Plan, implement and supervise special events staged and produced for donor stewardship/relationship building and for guest facing events such as banquets. Duties include planning, implementing and supervising all assigned special events; creating and managing event budgets; planning event schedules and deadlines; develop and work with event committees to plan task assignments, staffing needs, volunteer recruitment. 
  • Assist Communications staff , Development staff with writing marketing events and recruiting event participants; monitoring registrations and planning progress; designing and compiling mass mailings under guidance of Communications staff; arranging event logistics (facilities, meeting rooms, routes, support sites, etc.). Also, includes supervising event staff (staff and volunteers) at actual events; collection of funds; gift(s); 
  • Perform event follow-up with correspondence (thank you notes, pledge reminders, etc.); event set-up; event clean-up; implementing risk management and crisis management procedures; transport of event materials, and supervision of event logistics. Corporate Relations Sponsors: Responsible for sponsorship in outlying areas in a manner consistent with policies, goals and objectives. 

General Corporate & Small Business Portfolio

  • Establish a portfolio of local business community throughout region for GIK, special projects, monthly OR annual financial support.

General Donor Development and Stewardship 

  • Steward current donors and expand the POH portfolio increasing gifts. 
  • Create new donors through community contacts, visit planned giving prospects, plan and execute cultivation events and research luncheons and small group prospects. 
  • Cultivate donors within faith community through church engagement opportunities. 

Public Relations Responsibilities 

  • Work directly with the Director of Philanthropy to become familiar with and establish close relationship with regional media for purpose of print, social, and in-person marketing to include but not limited to responsibility of creating press release(s), media announcements. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, such as: Communications, Marketing, Fundraising, Event Management 
  • History of Event management. 
  • One – two-year applicable work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and moderate design experience with Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, weeknights, and some holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills, to include both oral and written.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks while independently following through with details.
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to interact with integrity, respect, and professionalism with a diverse group of people.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver boxes that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • A combination of education and experience can be substituted.
  • Active Driver’s License as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
