WIREMAX goal is to manufacture steel wires that maximizes our clients' performance and strengthens their operations. At WIREMAX we manufacture general-purpose and high-performance steel cables and wire ropes that comply with the highest quality standards to meet the specifications of various industries. Our general-purpose and high-performance wire ropes for lifting, anchoring, or pulling operations are 100% manufactured in our Houston, Texas plant, which is certified under ISO 9001:2015 and API 9-A standards. We are also members of the Domestic Wire Rope and Cable and the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators (AWRF) associations. Our cables are manufactured under ASTM A475 and A363 standards.

MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Production/Operations Supervisor (HANDS-ON) is primarily responsible for overseeing and directing the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of 3-shifts at our Houston manufacturing plant to meet production requirements. Ensure the efficient and timely production of wire rope that meets customer requirements. This role will have daily ongoing communications with Programming, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety. Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and programs. Provide guidance, coaching, performance management, and the execution of health and safety initiatives. Motivate team members to meet company production goals, product quality, and production output while continually implementing and operating a lean manufacturing process. Foster a positive culture and work environment for all employees while providing continuous communications and excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.WIREMAX serves: Oil & Gas, Drilling, Cranes, Mining, Fishing, Construction, Forestry, Ecotourism, Electrical and Communications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run the manufacturing plant’s operations by overseeing and directing the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of 3-shifts at manufacturing plant while ensuring the efficient and timely production of wire rope that meets customer requirements.
  • Run the manufacturing operations by planning, scheduling, organizing, and directing the efforts of all machine operators and indirect labor employees in the Production Supervisor’s area of responsibility. Ensure all work instructions are followed in accordance with Company operating standards and quality expectations.
  • Partner with Programming to prepare production orders according to the program and delivery dates and execute the daily production plans without compromising employee safety or product quality.
  • Supervise that the execution of operations in the different stages of the manufacturing process (productive value chain) is completed in a timely manner, according to the defined production plan and establish quality standards.
  • Ensure that operational personnel have knowledge and skills to execute their production duties. Ensure the highest degree of productivity, safety, and quality by observing monitoring, coaching, and training employees to demonstrate appropriate work habits and behaviors compliant with the company’s code of conduct and ethics.
  • Direct the flow of product and equipment in a lean/continuous improvement manufacturing environment setting.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production requirements while minimizing overtime.
  • Provide and assist with adequate training of workforce by facilitating proper machine handling and training.
  • Assure adherence to company policies, plant rules, safety, preventative maintenance, 5S, 6S, or 7S lean methodology applications in manufacturing and housekeeping programs in a uniform and consistent manner.
  • Support safety culture and enforce safety policies and procedures. Uphold HSE (Health, Safety, & Environment) policies and standards. Ensure proper storage and handling of all materials.
  • Ensure employees report all safety incidents and near-misses and participate in investigations to determine root-cause.
  • Collaborate with Programming and Maintenance to achieve maximum efficiency and minimal downtime to meet production goals and guarantee the continuity of operation and services in an safe and uninterrupted manner, as well as the conservation of the facility, machinery, and equipment through the implementation of DSS total maintenance model.
  • Coordinate wire and material shortages with other Mexico Plant’s and machine and equipment problems with Maintenance to minimize machine down-time.
  • Follow accurate, timely and visible inventory-control methods to ensure inventory accuracies.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Evaluate safety conditions and conduct safety meetings with employees.
  • Review and approve production employees time-off requests and timesheets to ensure accuracy with Payroll processing.
  • Execute with the assistance of HR any type of corrective disciplinary actions with employees as appropriate. Perform timely performance evaluations and reviews.
  • Partner with Mexico leadership with respect to involvement in organization-wide strategies and initiatives. Assist with implementing initiatives and projects to improve operational performance and maintain employee-morale.
  • Collaborate with sister-company on-premises for optimal operational workflow between the 2-entities on premise.
  • Participate in various leadership meetings including the daily “Win the Day” zoom meeting with operation leaders within other Deacero’s entities. Provide statistical information and/or reports in a timely manner for the purpose of analysis and decision-making.
  • Maintain relations and communication with third-party providers and vendors and oversee plant’s necessities to ensure adequate day-to-day workflow operations.
  • Respond to and participate in third-party audits when necessary.
  • Participate in meetings with Finance, AR, AP to verify and confirm plant operational expenditures.
  • Monitor production and make financial-related decision-making (e.g. capacity planning, budgeting, inventory, P&L, etc.) and execute accordingly.
  • Partner with HR on talent management, including hiring, retention, mentoring, and performance management. Partner with HR to plan and execute employe engagement and recognition activities. 
  • Enforce, promote, monitor and develop a safe work environment ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws relating to environment, health and safety. Implement safety and quality policies and standards and attain established goals.
  • Responds to emergency situations; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
  • Foster a positive culture in a health and safety focused work environment, and to reduce/eliminate accidents, ensure all inspections/audits take place in a timely manner. Recommend mitigation procedures.
  • Monitor and coordinate environmental health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training. Work in conjunction with Safety leadership to ensure manufacturing plant’s Safety compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or in related field or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or equivalent and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive and hands-on experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in OSHA and EPA regulations and safety in a manufacturing or similar work environment.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement/lean manufacturing environment, with demonstrated use of 5S, 6S, or 7S lean methodology applications in manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or continuous improvement tools for process improvements.
  • Competent in standard operating procedures of a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure or experience working with wire-rope producing equipment and/or wire-rope manufacturing work environment is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish language). Must speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish languages proficiently to work in conjunction with employees, Mexico leadership, and departmental partners. Participate in meetings with executive leadership and cooperation between departments.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing lean principles, best-practices, and in federal, state, local, and relevant laws.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
  • Leadership skills to develop a workforce through motivation, reward, recognition, coaching, corrective action, and progressive discipline.
  • Skill in performing safety walk-throughs, safety meetings, safety inspections, incident investigations, and in ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA safety standards.
  • Possess a high-degree of ethics.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to constant change and react to changing priorities.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Results-oriented, ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to respond, analyze, interpret, and investigate inquiries from employees and state and local agencies.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and quick problem-solving skills are required to resolve plan issues.
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship building, and communication skills. Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to interact with all levels of personnel with demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Ability to be extremely organized, prioritize, and multi-task between various functions, responsibilities, and duties.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • This position requires minimal travel (less than 10%).

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above. Examples include: operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking and concentrating effectively, frequently communicating with people, frequently moving around the facility areas, may require occasional physical effort of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pds., ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, ability to have regular, reliable attendance on-site.
  • Utilizing standard office equipment including laptop computer, mouse, keyboard, copier, calculator, etc.
  • Combination of office and production floor environment setting.
  • Work environment in the manufacturing plant may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions, safety training, and required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe safety shoes, and gloves).
  • Use of hand-tools including wire-cutters, plier’s wrenches, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, or any types of hand-tools correlated with wire-rope and wire-cables.
  • Work may involve moving around the manufacturing plant to moderate exposure to manufacturing-plant environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, hot, cold, dirt, dust, grease, and/or loud noises in or around the facility’s premises.
