Position Summary

We are seeking an organized, reliable securiity guard with truck/trailer inspection responsibilities who has precise attention to detail to join our Laredo, TX distribution center/warehouse. The Security Guard/Inspector performs various duties in the day-to-day of controling access in and out of business' property, work-environment, location security, and inspection of carrier lines, 3rd-party trucks, and trailers. In addition, this position is responsible for the handling warehouse receipt of all products, materials, and supplies for successful operations activities of the distribution center in Laredo, Texas to meet tight deadlines. This position assists in the fulfillment the logistics of receipts of all products, materials, and supplies for Laredo warehouse. Collaborates and communicates with all team-members involved in the shipment and receipt of products. Foster a positive team-work culture and work environment with all employees while providing exceptional customer service. This position reports drectly to Operations Team-Lead/Supervisor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Control access to the property of people and various carrier lines, trucks, trailers, and 3rd-party transportation services.
  • Direct busy incoming and outgoing carrier lines, trucks, trailers, and 3rd-party services in the distribution center/warehouse premise.
  • Resolve day-to-day in directing incoming and outgoing transporation carrier lines on premise to ensure fullfillment of order requirements.
  • Conduct 17-Point Inspection and Checklist prior to unloading/loading/packing of all cargo by undergoing a CTPAT approved security inspections.
  • Inspections Checklist must be systematic and must be conducted on premise upon entering and departing the storage yards and at the point of loading. These systematic inspections must include a 17-point inspection on all tractors/trailers.
  • Conduct trailer/carrier lines inspection process, The inspection should proceed with container contents, including the lashings used to secure cargo. Inspector should also examine bills of lading, invoices and packing lists to ensure that cargo is correctly declared.
  • Handle warehouse receipts documentation as Company proofs of delivery of goods to the warehouse that indicates warehouse received the goods and in the transfer of goods.
  • Security inspection and evaluation is to assess existing organizational security and make recommendations to improve it to the desired level. 
  • Enforce property rules and regulations.
  • Handle security violations.
  • Monitor for potential security violations or suspicios cargo activities.
  • Investigate and report security incidents.
  • Inspection of trucks and trailers through a 17-point security inspection process - CTPAT.
  • Maintain inspection documentation and checklists.
  • Conduct daily rounds to warehouse and all premises perimeter areas.
  • Receipt of trucks and drivers.
  • Receipt of trips in system.
  • Ensure the use of PPE with internal and external staff.
  • Participate in operative daily meetings and safety meetings with all employees.
  • Promote and maintain the 5S standards for organizing, cleaning, and sustaining a productive work areas.
  • Identifying workplace safety hazards.
  • Follow company procedures reagrding security in the workplace.
  • Adhere to safety management standards.
  • Inform Supervisor of ongoing issues to improve logistics carrier line truck and trailer traffic.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, neat, security guard office area.
  • Adhere to OSHA and safety standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge in Security functions realted to logistics, warehouse or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience as a Security Guard or in a related-similar role.
  • 1 year of experience in surveillance systems.
  • Knowledge in security, security systems, logistics, warehouse or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
  • Some experience with report writing.
  • Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a fast-paced manufacturing, distribution center, logistics, or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledgeable in receipt, inspection, storage, and management of goods and products in the warehouse.
  • Knowledge of 17-Point Truck and Trailer Inspection Procedures (C-TPAT Inspection Process).
  • OSHA training and hazardous materials training is a plus.
  • Basic Mathematical aptitude is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish language is required to handle loading/unloading documentation. Must speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Ability to conduct 17-Point Truck and Trailer Inspections and complete Inspections Checklist.
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Power-Point.
  • Ability to respond, interpret, and investigate inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Able to read the details on products and goods in English & Spanish.
  • Comprehensice knowledge of safety guidelines.
  • Strong sense of time, organization, and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to read and understand packaging, shipping documentation, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship building, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high- customer service and professionalism.
  • Results-oriented, ability to work as part of a functional team; team-player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge in OSHA regulations and safety in a manufacturing, distribution center, logistics, or warehouse environment.
  • Skill in performing safety walk-throughs of premises, safety meetings, safety inspections, and in ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, creativity to fast-paced, changing needs and situations.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above. Examples include: thinking and concentrating effectively, frequently communicating with people, frequently moving around the facility/warehouse and yard areas. Requires frequent physical effort of lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 55-60 pds., ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, ability to have regular, reliable attendance on-site.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent physical condition to frequently move around the warehouse and yard facility.
  • Must be comfortable working in a labor-intensive environment, under extreme weather conditions outside in yard-warehouse areas.
  • Work environment in the distribution center/logistics areas, and warehouse may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions, safety training, and required PPE.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises in or around the facility’s premises.
