I. SAFETY

A. INSURE REGIONAL AND BRANCH OFFICES ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH CORPORATE SAFETY POLICIES

1. Train Managers / Supervisors / Foremen

3. Work to Reduce Accidents and Illnesses

B. CONDUCT/COORDINATE SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAMS

1. Proper Pesticide Handling / Storage / Disposal if Applicable

2. First Aid Training

3. Illness Prevention Training (poison ivy, lyme disease, etc.)

4. Traffic Control

5. Material Handling

6. Annual Training

C. CHAIR REGIONAL SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETINGS

1. Coordinate safety committees at branches and projects

D. UPDATE SAFETY MANUAL

1. Communicate updates to Regional employees

2. Coordinate changes with Corporate Risk Management

E. FILL OUT SAFETY QUESTIONNAIRES FOR NEW OR CURRENT CUSTOMERS

F. CONDUCT ALL REGIONAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS

1. Report and Follow Through with Corporate Claims Manager

2. Handle and Follow Through with Insurance Companies When Requested by Corporate Claims Manager

3. Retrain Employees When Necessary

G. ASSIST IN HANDLING ALL LIABILITY CLAIMS

1. Coordinate Efforts With Corporate Claims Manager and Appropriate Regional Managers

H. ASSIST WITH THIRD PARTY CLAIMS AND COLLECTION EFFORTS

1. Coordinate with Corporate and Regional Claims Managers

I. CONDUCT/COORDINATE DRIVER TRAINING

1. Ability to Attain Smith System of Driving Instructor Status

J. COORDINATE ALL WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIMS

1. Insure Injured Employee Fills out Necessary Paperwork

2. Report All Claims to Corporate Claims Manager

3. Acquire Written Statements from Witnesses

4. Stay in Contact with Employee, Doctor, Corporate Claims Manager and Insurance Company

5. Work to Minimize Workers’ Compensation Claim

II. COMPLIANCE

A. CORPORATE

1. Coordinate Company Drug/Alcohol Policy

a. Make sure all new employees sign the policy

b. Confirm all necessary drug / alcohol testing (pre-employment, random, post accident, etc.) is conducted

c. Assist with arrangements for out-of-town employees

2. Pro-actively Train/Communicate with Employees On:

a. Drugs & Alcohol in the Workplace

b. Smoking

c. Workplace Violence

d. Bloodborne Diseases

e. Sexual Harassment, etc.

3. Assist with Investigating Any Alleged Employee Unfair Treatment Complaints (including being a sounding board for disputes, etc.)

a. Workplace Violence

b. Race / Age Discrimination

c. Sexual Harassment, etc.

B. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

1. Federal / State DOT Compliance

a. Assist drivers in obtaining CDL - coordinate / conduct any driver training program

b. Train drivers of their obligations to comply with DOT regulations

c. Make sure all drivers complete and maintain proper paperwork (log books, current medical cards, etc.)

d. Keep all regional DOT files current

e. Make sure all proper posters, etc. are hung up in all work areas

2. State Pesticide Compliance

a. Register company in all required states

1) register with new states

2) register annually with current states

3) coordinate annual pesticide usage reports, etc.

b. Keep file with each state’s current legislative / regulatory guidelines, etc.

1) have a summary sheet for each state to hand out to technicians working in each state (paperwork requirements, products not registered in that state, and all other pertinent information)

c. Conduct training programs to assist employees with getting state pesticide licenses

d. Keep all technician’s licenses current

1) apply for proper re-certification points

e. License all new technicians in required states

1) coordinate training programs to help pass tests

2) schedule tests

3) follow up on results of tests

4) coordinate with payroll clerk for any costs paid by technicians (re-tests, etc.)

f. Keep current list of who is licensed in what states

1) make sure all technicians renew their licenses each year

g. Work with each state agency when they are conducting an investigation into our company

3. Right-To-Know Compliance

a. Conduct training programs to comply with worker right-to-know laws

b. Keep all MSDS files current

1) office files

2) truck books

c. File community response plan

1) County Emergency Response Planning Committee

2) Local fire companies

4. OSHA Compliance

a. Make sure all regional and branch facilities are in compliance with OSHA

1) make sure all chemical storage, mixing and disposal guidelines are followed

b. Inspect and audit all regional equipment so it is in compliance

c. Make sure all regional procedures are in compliance

1) make sure technicians assess field conditions where they are mixing, parking trucks, applying, etc.

d. Make sure proper policy statements are in place and being complied with (lock out program, respiratory protection program, etc.)

5. Maintain Regional PPE Program

a. Update PPE policies as required

b. Train all appropriate personnel on proper PPE

c. Make sure all training is documented and kept on file

d. Continue work-site evaluations and develop SOP

6. State and Federal Traffic Control Compliance

a. Make sure region is in compliance with MUTCD and equivalent state manuals

b. Attain instructor status for appropriate states at appropriate levels

c. Ensure all employees are trained to the appropriate level in traffic control practices.

d. Assist Regions with follow up trainings and mock temporary traffic control set-ups

III. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

A. ASSIST MANAGERS IN HIRING NEW PEOPLE

1. Conduct interviews

2. Run ads in newspapers, trade publications

3. Place job orders with the unemployment office

4. Conduct reference check / background checks

B. CONDUCT NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION MEETINGS

C. CONDUCT EXIT INTERVIEWS

D. ASSIST IN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

E. ANYTHING ELSE DEEMED NECESSARY BY SUPERIORS TO ENSURE SAFE OPERATIONS AND THE SAFETY OF ALL EMPLOYEE
