Datavox is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Houston, TX

Facilities Technician

We are looking for someone who has general building maintenance, housekeeping, and porter experience. The individual should be able to work independently with little supervision. They also need to meet our dress code policy which includes no visible tattoos.

General Information:

  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Building size: 3 floors, 48,000 sq. ft.

What You’ll Do:

  • Routine upkeep/maintenance on the building and the outside area by diagnosing the source or cause of the defect or problem, and making repairs in accordance with established and safety standards – examples changing light bulbs, assess malfunctions of restrooms and determine if a plumber or electrician should be called or if it can be handled internally; inspecting sprinkler systems; patching, painting, and other repair/replacement work as required, etc.
  • Completes monthly preventative maintenance procedures if needed and as outlined by DataVox Standards
  • Periodically inspects work and maintenance performed by contractors, vendors, and other service providers to verify the work, materials and services meet quality standards, scope and specifications as required.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and maintenance materials and works with Office Manager to order supplies and tools as needed to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Supports cost-cutting and expense control programs by fixing rather than replacing parts, when possible, not being wasteful with materials and supplies, and practicing the correct use for tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrates customer services skills by treating all employees with respect, answering questions from them, responding promptly to requests from their side.
  • Develop standards for the cleanliness and overall appearance of the building’s grounds, building exteriors, parking lots, and other common areas to ensure that they reflect and represent the high quality of the DataVox standards.
  • General cleaning – sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning windows, wiping down counters and tables, refrigerator cleaning (twice a month), trash removal, etc.
  • Clean up after demos and customer lunch and learns.
  • Restocking break room supplies including refrigerators and coffee supplies
  • Lifting and mail/package deliveries
  • Performs duties associated with events, including set up, break-down and all tasks required for the duration of the event.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Education/Work Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of verifiable experience
  • Experience with electrical and plumbing equipment preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to receive and respond to work assignments in both formats.
  • Strong command of the English language both spoken and written
  • Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
  • Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Detail orientation with a mindset towards meeting DataVox’s high standards for maintenance of facilities.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Access and employ job related computer software (email, work planning, timekeeping) at an effective proficiency level.
  • Works independently with limited supervision
  • Interacts with various levels of staff and vendors.


Physical Demands:

Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handling, feeling or operating objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
