Meet with customer and perform site surveys in order to Engineer, Furnish and Install (EF&I) equipment in a Data Center or Central Office environment. Identify cables and materials required for equipment installations and maintain and update BOMs as required. Prepare and provide the detailed specifications, sketches and drawings and MOP’s as required. Interface with customer, field installers & customer project managers for any questions associated with the job. Requires competency in the use of computers and technical software.
Functional Responsibilities:
1) Meet with customer engineers when necessary to identify local job requirements and to establish a cordial rapport with the customer.
2) Work with customer and account team to establish project scope and budget
a. Determine and define project scope and objectives
3) Receive / review assigned Scope of Work and schedule Site Surveys.
4) Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
5) Be able to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
6) Track project costs in order to meet budget
7) Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
8) Must have detailed knowledge of customer Engineering and Installation procedures, standards and quality requirements to include TP76300, GR1275, NSTD119 as well as various other customer standard guidelines.
9) Must have detailed knowledge about equipment types such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel, Netscout, Fujitsu, etc
10) Must have detailed knowledge of cable racking and auxiliary framing.
11) Perform Site Surveys, complete Detail Engineering sketches, Floorplans, MOP’s and Bill of Materials
12) Answer any questions from field teams & customer project management during Specification/scope preparation and review final specification and bill of material to assure accuracy.
13) Work with field installation forces to resolve any engineering related issues that arise at or after job start.
14) Monitor progress and adjust as needed
15) Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
16) Observe all customer safety procedures and requirements while on premises.
17) Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork and reports
Experience Required:
· Minimum of 5 year’s experience in engineering with field installation experience a great plus. Must have computer proficiency and knowledge of software such as Excel/Word/Visio.
· Minimum of 2 years of project management and related experience
· Ability to creatively solve problems
· Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
· Must be able to function independently in a responsive, timely and organized manner. Must possess well developed communication and customer relation skills. Must be a team-oriented person with the ability to interface with multiple work groups in an effective manner.
